Strong wavy lines on monitor when transmitting

Postby WA2DVU » Tue Dec 19, 2017 1:55 am

Rig is 7000 + Ameritron 82 running 1 kw or so into Mosley Pro 57 at 60 feet. On 20 m SWR is 1.2 to 1. When I would transmit on 20M SSB Wavy lines would show up on the monitor screen when using 3 foot VGA cord. Changed cord to HDMI and problem solved. Have never had any RF leakage in shack until this episode. I guess the VGA cords make nice antennas! 73 Bill, WA2DVU Love my 7000!

Ferrites, grounding and bonding for the win! :D

I use Displayport on my triple monitor setup and no problems. Wireless mouse helps, too. The PC is bonded to the station ground, same as all of the other equipment.
