Thetis, and N1mm+ for DVK setup

Postby vu2mb » Sun Nov 08, 2020 4:59 pm

Hello friends

I am using my Anan 8000DLE for SSB/CW/RTTY and FT8. I So I know the CAT settings for logging software's in my use.
I use LOG4OM2 for regular use and N1MM+ for contesting. RTTY, SSB CW FT8 works without an issue with N1MM+ and SSB and FT8 with LOG4OM2.

I have decided to use DVK function of N1MM+ and I am stuck with how to setup CAT / VAC so that .wav files can be transmitted using associated F keys Attached, Please find the screenshots of Thetis and N1MM.

I am using all virtual com ports as Pairs and have read elsewhere that setup as connector and splitter may help should I decided to use other software's without stopping CAT in one of the program or closing them before using the other program.

DVK is setup and all .wav files have been created and working when clicking F keys (Playing on PC's speaker) PTT of the radio is being triggered but no power is going out. Please see the screen shots of my setup and suggest what change do I need to do to make it work?

I use mic on radio.

Thank you very much.

You should only need virtual serial port pairs to make this work. You did not say what your specific port pairs were, but in general your serial connection setup looks fine and you say the radio is keying, which is a good sign that it is working fine.

What does not appear to be setup correctly are the virtual audio cables:

- Thetis VAC1 looks fine.
- Thetis VAC2 is unnecessary as it cannot be used for transmitting, so those settings do not matter.
- You are showing the N1MM Digital Mode setup tab, and that also is a "don't care", it has nothing to do with voice keying.

What is missing is you have not posted the N1MM setup tabs located in Config > Logger+ Audio Setup. Those are the settings that need to match up with your Thetis VAC1 settings. Since you say that you have successfully made recordings, you should probably look at Config > Logger+ Audio Setup > Playback. Select "S01V/S02V Single Soundcard". Below that, based on your VAC1 screenshot, select "Line 2 Virtual Cable 2" (or whatever the closest equivalent is, since Windows sound device names seem to be shown differently in every application).

Dear Scott,

Thanks a ton. Its working. I was looking for the audio setup under config > Configure port setup and as this was not there, I left it and thought I am missing VAC setting somewhere else. .wav files I have created using W1VE SYN-DVK for N1MM ( Its super easy) and since now its working I will create these in my own voice and compress / process in Audacity before placing them in the correct folder by replacing the existing files.

Thanks again, Have a good day and great week ahead.

I am having a similar problem. I'm using Voicemeeter for VAC and, under N1MM+, have chosen so1v/so2v single soundcard and voicemeeter input for the N1MM+ set up. I've also checked internal radio codec (have tried with it both checked and not checked). In Thetis have enabled VAC1 and set sample rate the same in N1MM and Thetis.

When trying to record on the fly with N1MM it says recording but I've no output at all. Am at a complete loss on what is missing. Any help will be appreciated.

all above is with 7000dle

Thanks
Ron

An update. Got it sort of working
Had to record using computer sound card so mike plugged into the computer
Playback through voicemeeter.
Issue is that there is a delay, maybe a half or full second, from time message starts playing to it being sent from the radio. The first part of the message is lost.

I've shortened or eliminated any delays I had set in Thetis (PTT to rf out delay, etc) but none affected this issue.

Again, any insite would be helpful.

Thanks
Ron

Is N1MM not keying the radio immediately before playing the message?

Sorry for late reply. Just now saw your post. I needed to change N1MM+ to "PTT via radio command" under set up. Once I did that it worked well. Thought I could record messages using Voicemeeter through 7000 but couldn't get that to work so recorded through computer sound card. Later learned to normalize using Windows Wave Pad editor. Seems to be all working now.

Thanks

Ron
