WSJT-X FT8 - OpenHPSDR 3.4.9 - 60M
WSJT-X FT8 - OpenHPSDR 3.4.9 - 60M
For those that have this working on transmit, what setup are you using on WSJT-X for rig control and what settings on OpenHPSDR are you using that allows the OpenHPSDR to function without transmit errors (outside of channel etc)
Re: WSJT-X FT8 - OpenHPSDR 3.4.9 - 60M
You follow the same idea as PSK31 on 60M
http://www.arrl.org/60m-channel-allocation
Channel 1: 5330.5 kHz
Channel 2: 5346.5 kHz
Channel 3: 5357.0 kHz
Channel 4: 5371.5 kHz
Channel 5: 5403.5 kHz
And then set your offset to 1500 to put you approximately center channel.

Thanks for the reply Mike, have you got your setup working for WSJT-X DXpedition mode on 60M?

I can't hear KH7Z -- have only had a handful of decodes of them so haven't worked them yet.

I don't want to turn this topic into a major rules debate, but there are two interpretations of 47CFR97.303(h) among amateur operators:
a) If you believe that emission designator 2K80J2D includes FT8 transmitted anywhere within the allowed 2.8KHz passband, then simply set your dial frequency to one of the freq's that Mike listed and do not operate outside of the 0-2800Hz area on the WSJT-X waterfall display but do operate anywhere within that passband that you like.
b) If you believe that emission designator 2K80J2D requires you place any data emission exactly centered on the passband, i.e. 1400Hz on the WSJT-X waterfall, then do ONLY that.
FWIW most people operate in accordance with (a) above, as is plainly evident by observing FT8 signals on a 60M channel on any given day. It is the common sense approach, maximizes channel occupancy, and does not violate a strict interpretation of 2K80J2D. Also, the FCC has not taken exception to the practice, so that is a good sign.

Re: WSJT-X FT8 - OpenHPSDR 3.4.9 - 60M
Perhaps I need to be more specific. I have no problem transmitting on the 60M band. That is not the issue. The issue is with the specifics of how the WSJT-X software works in the FT8 DXpedtion mode. Hence the query to someone that actually has used WSJT-X in the FT8 mode successfully. In DXpedition mode the WSJT-X software shifts you transmit frequency to a random location about 3-500 Hz above the bottom of the working frequency 5.357 MHz when the hound establish the contact. The issue is that WSJT shifts the frequency lower than 5.357 so the transmitted tones end up closer to the center of the audio pass band. OpenHPSDR does not initiate transmission rather complains then that you are transmitting out of channel or the selected audio pass band. The query was to find out if anyone has a workaround with different setup of WSJT-X or OpenHPSDR.
Re: WSJT-X FT8 - OpenHPSDR 3.4.9 - 60M
Turn off split mode.
It's recommended but, as you found out, problematic on 60M.

Or...in PowerSDR change your region to "Extended", but be careful because PowerSDR will now allow you to transmit outside of band allocations so being legal becomes all about operator skill
Re: WSJT-X FT8 - OpenHPSDR 3.4.9 - 60M
Thanks Scott. I think your method will work the best.
Given the opportunity to work FT8 in DXpedition mode again on 60M, I will just change that setting before I operate and change it back after the Q. Wish I would have thought of that while KH1/KH7Z was in operation on 60M.
Anyone want to try a test on 60M FT8 DXpedition mode as a fox to verify?
