Setting up HRD with 7000DLE MKII

Postby Falcon » Sat May 01, 2021 7:13 pm

Greetings to all, I am looking for anyone using HRD with the 7000 questions are as follows....
Which radio to get all HRD functions to work? IE. Kenwood, Flex, SDR-Radio.
Baud rate? is it critical? As some software will only work at certain speeds.
Rotator control works so good there.
Any links to step by step would be wonderful.
Thank you.

Same here, I suspect I should use the Kenwood TS-2000 (?)

I don't have HRD here, but it should not be terribly difficult.

Do you have virtual audio cable software setup and configured for the digi modes?

Do you have virtual serial cable software setup?

When using most virtual serial cable software baud rate is pretty non-critical. I set it to the fastest rate supported by both programs.

As for radio type, remember that Thetis is built on PowerSDR mRX, PowerSDR mRX is built on the old, legacy Flex PowerSDR, and PowerSDR uses Kenwood CAT commands for most of its core functions. Start with a Kenwood TS-2000. Then maybe move up to a legacy Flex setting (e.g. for a Flex 1500, 3000 or 5000 if one is available. Then perhaps see if its got an option for PowerSDR mRX or Apache or openHPSDR.

Definitely do not use any setting for a modern Flex radio type.
