EER Transmit Mode - Who knows about this?

Postby kc2rgw » Sat Aug 08, 2020 3:07 pm

So just barely scratching the surface on what EER means and what it may be like to try building an EER amplifier. I have very little clue here, but see it's in the software and I've been kicking around building a class-E rig for AM and saw EER and wondered if that wouldn't be another angle to pursue with the Anan for a more efficient and higher duty cycle capable amplifier option.

Who is the Godfather of EER in Thetis? Are there any papers around about this? Any pages about EER amplifier builds? Very curious.

Did you do any Google searches?

I got some good hits on the very first try by searching on "openhpsdr eer amplifier".

This link in particular:

I don't think the work ever got anywhere serious. If anyone would know it would be Phil Harmon. Try dropping him a line at his email shown at the above link.

Thanks, I found some theory papers on EER in itself but nothing when I searched the forum here which seemed odd and why I asked.

There was a presentation on this at Friedrichshafen in June 2018 - I think this is the right link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6ohr98ikeA
