ANAN-100B will not key amp

A friend of mine just got a ANAN-100B like I have but will not key his amp. We have gone thru the questions I knew to ask: is the correct jack on the back of the 100B used, is External TX Inhibited on and etc. He wondered if an internal jumper was set incorrectly, I know of documentation on setting the jumpers for Mic, Bias and PTT, but have not seen documentation on the many other jumpers inside the radio. Anyone have an idea?

There are no jumpers associated with PTT Out functions.

Has he confirmed that his PTT output transistor is not fried?

This is an amplifier interface related question--moving it to the amp interface subforum.

"Has he confirmed that his PTT output transistor is not fried?" How would he do this?

Use a 100K resistor from the PTT pin to +12VDC. Then attach the positive lead of a voltmeter to that pin. Attach the negative lead of the voltmeter to ground. When PTT is not asserted you should see +12VDC on the voltmeter. When PTT is asserted you should see 0VDC. If you don't get those results then:

a) you didn't hook everything up properly

or

b) your PTT output transistor is probably blown.
