If it's a Ten-Tec Hercules II, you should be able to simply go PTT Out to Key In, nothing special required.

You can use any microphone with any Apache Labs radio, with an appropriate cable, of course. Dynamic microphones generally require the 20dB mic boost option be turned on in Setup > Transmit.

I am using a PR-781 with 7000 and it works perfectly. The main point is that you need to adjust it with the equalizer to get it to fit your voice. The Heil adapter is sold by Gigaparts for the Apache Labs radios, or you can make one for yourself.

I now need find a good small computer that’s not going break bank to use on my navigation station on my 42 foot sailboat
