Hi folks,
got a problem connecting the Expert 1k3 to the Anan 200d. Wiring is like the chart.
Expert cat config:
Kenwood, 9k6, Input 1
Vspe:
Com7 connector
Com7 com 17 Splitter 9k6, Stp bit 1
Emulations on
Hpsdr cat Catcontrol :
Enable hacken,
Port com 7
9k6
Sop bit 1
ID as power SDR
Ddutil:
Setup Features:
Legacy com 17
Setup Amps:
Spe, 1k3,com 4, enabled
PC :
ATEN usb to serial bridge com 4 in Windows
Any suggestions why ddutil can not connect to the amp?

Re: Anan 200d => ddutil => Expert 1ke
I didn't check the pinouts, but the block diagram looks correct.
However your virtual serial port wiring looks wrong. Why are you using a splitter? All you need to do is:
PowerSDR<--VSPE virtual serial port pair-->DDUtil Legacy Port
COM4<-->DDUtil SPE Port.
Make your VSPE pair COM7/COM8 or the like. If you use those ports assign one of them to PowerSDR and the other to DDUtil. Again, no need to use a splitter. You just need a pair. DDUtil will take care of moving data as required.
However...
Why are you using DDUtil at all? Do you need some special feature of DDUtil? Because you don't need it, you can just have the amp talk directly to PowerSDR if you like. Just assign COM4 on one of the four available CAT ports in PowerSDR and the amp will happily follow PowerSDR all by itself.

Hi Scott,
Thanks a lot. Will test the direct connect and also with ddutil. You’re totally right with splitting and ddutil. Will try both ways and report it.
Maaany thanks,
Chris

Hi Scott,
I was thinking too complicated. Direct connect between Anan and Expert via Com 4 works. The test via ddutil will follow.

Re: Anan 200d => ddutil => Expert 1ke
Hello together,
now the connection between Anan and Expert is working fine while connecting each other direct.
Next step is DDUTIL. I’ve seen the presets for drive power a.s.o. and I want to play with this features. The connection between PowerSDR and DDUTIL works without trouble so I can see the right frequency of PowerSDR at DDUTIL.
Not working does the connection to the Expert. I set the right Com port of the USB interface into DDUTIL but nothing positive happened. Changing the frequency in PowerSDR has effect to DDUTIL but not to the Expert. The display of the amp shows zero. Furthermore the error counter in DDUTIL goes up every second and collects in a few minutes a couple of errors like in the attached picture.
In my opinion the USB RS232 converter seems to be the problem. Against this speaks that the amp works in direct connect to PowerSDR (Com of the Expert USB interface into PowerSDR Cat) without any problems.
Maybe there are other suggestions?
Thanks a lot,
Chris

Re: Anan 200d => ddutil => Expert 1ke
Sorry, Chris, I don't have an answer for you (no SPE amp here, but I do have DDUtil working correctly with my KPA500).
You might try the DDUtil Yahoo Group:
