Anan 200D and Acom 600 S

Postby DO2ZA Erwin » Tue Oct 24, 2017 3:55 pm

Hallo all,

I have a little Problem: With my new Acom 600 S: I can not use the Two-Tone Signal from PowerSDR openHPSDR 3.4.2.
I see the Input on the Display from the 600S and it switched to TX but no output will show, nothing. I use different Spaces between the tones
700/1700 700/1900 and so.
Only when the tones are max. 199 hz diff. output will come. 200 hz will also not work.
Is this a Problem from Acom or PSDR/Anan ???

Have another User the same Problem?

Thanks and 73 from DL

Are you getting normal operation otherwise? Do you have "Use Drive Power" turned on in Setup > Tests > Two Tone Test?

Hello Scott,

all others is working perfekt with the Acom.
Yes, use Drive-Power is marked. I tried powerlevels from 5 to 30 Watts, no changes.
I am still waiting for an Answer from Acom / Wimo Germany..............
Setup / Tests / Two Tone Test is:
Freq. 1 700
Freq. 2 1700
Level 0,000
RF-Power zb. 33
Invert for LS is marked but unmarked give no changes.

Hello,

I get an Info from a german Dealer: The 2-Tone Test is blocked from Acom in the Firmware from the 600S.

How can the amplifier tell it is being asked to run a two-tone test?

Hi Scott,

I don´t know, but the 600s has a frequency-Counter. And I have tested: if the Tones are max. 199 hz different it works. At 200 hz difference it works not.

I think Acom is afraid??

Hahaha, maybe they are afraid!

Very good to know, also, and I'm sure a lot of ACOM amp owners are going to be interested in that information.

You know, although 700 and 1900Hz are the "standard" for official two-tone IMD performance tests, it is by no means necessary or required that you use those tones specifically. I set my two-tone test to run 70 and 190. This provides more than sufficient stimulus for PureSignal to get a solution and to test both PureSignal performance and drive settings on the amp before starting operations.

70 and 190Hz is also quite a bit more pleasant to listen to. That combination does not "sing the song of our people" and immediately mark one as a crazy Apache Labs radio owner :D

Hello all and Scott,

a good Friend has make a Patch for this Problem (for PSDR 3.4.9). He begins with One Tone and then 0,1(0,2) Sek. later the second Tone.
It works perfekt here and also with the Acom 1200 S. :D :D .

Many thanks to Walter.

Very cool! Did Walter submit the changes to Doug for possible inclusion in the next versions?

Not yet,
i do not think it would be of public interest.
It is just a simple workaround for a specific linear from a specific manufacturer who tend to exaggerate with self protection measures... ;)

But if you like you may pass this to Doug.
