Major new version of Voicemeeter now in pre-release

The most exciting thing is that an ASIO hardware interface is no longer required to use Voicemeeter.

Also, for an extra charge, you can enable all of the hardware channels as additional virtual channels.

I've been trying it out for the last few days and it seems very stable.

Scott, I have really been enjoying my Universal Audio Volt 1 interface. I have not tried using Voicemeeter with it yet. What would be the benefit of adding this version to my setup?

Those additional virtual channels are a nice feature. Just set one up for JTDX

Voicemeeter is the go-to app if you want/need a virtual sound mixer on your system. As Tony mentions, first and foremost it's a great way to connect other programs that need audio, like digi mode software, CW skimmers, etc. And since it's a virtual mixer, you can thereby easily switch between phone and digi.

Voicemeeter also is an excellent way to bridge audio between Thetis and more sophisticated digital audio workstation (DAW) software, if that's something you are interested in.

Voicemeeter also offers some voice processing capabilities.

In fact I do all of my mic processing (except Leveler) in VoiceMeeter.

VM Potato has a fully tweakable six-node parametric EQ for all 5 hardware inputs (and every output), and also has a reverb control (no such option is available in Thetis).

Here's my mic EQ curve and reverb settings (the small but tight notch at 3350 Hz in the curve is to take the edge off of the sibilance in my esses).

Thanks guys for the detailed information. So far I haven't really got into digital modes. I tried FT8 and other than the ease of making contacts, I didn't really find it interesting enough to continue to use.
The computer I use with my 8000DLE also is used with two other SDR radios. A Flex 5000A and a Flex 6600M. The improvement in the audio using the UAV1 for all three radios has been great. I think it was money well spent. And the Tannoy Reveal 501A powered studio monitors make a big difference as well.
I had wondered if adding outboard audio processing through software would improve the receive audio for the Flex radios. They are both really good. And the improvement using my current setup is very noticeable compared to using VAC and the computer's on board audio ( Realtek) system.
So far, the 8000DLE with Thetis continues to be the clear winner for audio and Noise Reduction.
I have used a couple of VST plug-ins with VST Host and those were decent. But still, not as good as NR2 in Thetis.
I appreciate all the good information shared here. I will reevaluate my current setup and see if it would be worth investing in Voicemeeter for my particular usage.

Whatever improvements have been made under the hood. The new GUI for selecting "physical" inputs/outputs is a huge improvement.
Clear, logical layout, more info and links to Windows Sound.

Now, IF Voicemeeter could just tidy up the Digital channel nomenclature . . . . . .

Rats!
I was hoping they were going to call it "Voicemeeter Rutabaga" :-)
