USB to Serial Adapter for PTT

Postby LarryW » Sun Sep 13, 2020 2:56 pm

So---PTT is working great using this method, however I notice if I shut down the PC or reboot the PTT does not work unless I unplug the usb/serial adapter then plug it back in.

I always start the PC first then the radio (maybe it should be the other way)

Anyone run into this issue and if so, what was your fix?

Thank You,
Larry

What serial adapter do you have? Sounds like it's buggy.

It doesn't say it's an FTDI chip -- is it using an FTDI driver?
Every one I've seen that's FTDI says so.

No I don't think it has the FTDI chip. When I was looking for one I never thought about that. It came with a cd for the driver bit it found in online quickly so thought it would work.

If it continues I will order a different one I guess!

Thanks

If it's a Prolific you have to downgrade the driver to get it to behave.

I hang on to an early Prolific driver for just such occasions, I hope it came across as an attachment.
