Condenser headsets for 7000 DLE MKII
I would be interested in knowing which computer condenser ( electret) headsets, by brand and model, work fine with the 7000 DLE MKII straight out of the box. Thanks.

None if you want to plug it into the mic jack on the 7000. Read the very first "tacked" topic in this sub-forum "Trouble with your microphone..."

The VAC tutorial is getting a little dated, there have been many changes in Thetis, but it should still get you on the air with VAC, if that's what you choose to do.

Using the VAC 1 input, I have one of the under $25 USB condenser mikes from Ebay, with the brand name IKEDON.
Plugs into a USB port on computer and totally eliminates all the RF pickup/feedback with analog mikes, at least in my case.
Just follow the W1AEX instructions on setting up equalization, etc.

If you are going with a USB microphone, there are many really outstanding examples, including the Behringer C-1U, the MXL USB006, the AKG Lyra, and the Audio Technica AT2020USB+.
Another alternative is to buy a professional USB audio interface like the Behringer UMC202HD. Then you can plug in any professional microphone or monitor speakers you want.
But, again, the microphone connector on all Apache hardware has non-standard wiring. There is no off-the-shelf microphone that will plug right in. You pretty much always need to get the soldering iron out unless you can find someone selling an adapter or willing to make you one.
