ELECTRO VOICE RE320 THETIS v. PWRSDR

Postby mark1161 » Sun Jul 29, 2018 5:15 am

Good Evening All,

I have two Anan100d radios. One is Thetis and the other is PowerSDR. The RE320 mic works normally on the PowerSDR rig. However, when I plug the mic into the Thetis radio, it immediately goes into TX. Is this a software or jumper issue? If it is a jumper adjustment, please advise which one needs to be changed. I just purchased the radio from another ham.

Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

It is a jumper issue.

The documentation on the microphone configuration jumpers is rapidly disappearing into the sands of time. When I get a moment this week I will make a special post in this section documenting them. However, for right now, see this original Hermes documentation:

http://openhpsdr.org/downloads/documents/Hermes/Documentation/Archive/Hermes_User_Manual_V1.10.pdf

The jumpers you seek to configure are JP4, 5 and 6. The are labelled that way on the Angelia card in your 100D and perform the same functions as on Hermes. See the 100D documentation (links in this forum in the documentation section and also at the Apache website) to locate them on the Antelia card.

Ok. Unfortunately, I thought so. The RE320, as you may know, is a dynamic microphone. The condenser microphone I have does work perfectly with the Thetis ANAN100d. Now, I have to decide if using that microphone is worth disassembling the radio. I did it with the ANAN 10E but this is a whole new ballgame.

Hi Mark,

I believe the Angelia board MIC jumpers are in the same area as the Hermes MIC jumpers, right behind the 1/8 inch input jacks. With my ANAN-100 that I sold last year it was about a 15 minute job to drop the front panel and reach in with tweezers to arrange the jumpers as needed. Add another 5 minutes to put the front panel back on and you're done. If I had an EV-RE320 I'd definitely make sure I could use it!

Rob,

THANKS! This is cool. I can do this! As with the 10E, I think I had to remove the screws in back to be able to pull the board out. I would imagine the 100D requires the same protocol. Also, if I may, do you know which jumper switches from condenser to dynamic on the board?

I want to ask you another question but I will do this off line so as not to cross wires on this topic group

You should not have to remove the entire rear panel, but this link should give you enough information to get the hardware apart:

Asking questions in a public forum is the entire point of the public forum, so that all can help and all can benefit. If it is not an appropriate topic for this thread, start a new one in the correct sub-forum.
