Not happy having to re-do everything (I use *two* MIDI controllers) but am certainly willing if it improves things long term. Please give a warning and make the change happen on a weekend.
What's the upside? Will this change make it easier to expand the command set?

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
A minor suggested improvement to bandstack operation, I'm putting it here since it's not a bug or issue. A common way of using the bandstack (at least for me it's the most common way) is to click on the number, bring up the window, choose a frequency, exit the window. I don't keep it up all the time...

Well, Mark, I take issue with your assertion that technical specs follow the maxims of law. Technical specs are normally explicit in the extreme. But, no matter. We're still left with questions: Why, as Scott asserts, do none of the equipment (hardware) manufacturers adhere to the "peak" i...

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
This has been a very interesting discussion! And my compliments to all for the cordial tone. I think I see the issue. The language in the spec is just a tad imprecise and lacks an explicit definition of "quasi-peak detector". First, spec #2 says "On the bands below 30 MHz a meter devi...

Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - current issues
Comment/question on highlighting Tx profile items... I really like this function - it makes all the relevant settings immediately obvious. But here's something to consider: This is so useful I'd like to leave it enabled all the time. But it also highlights controls in the main console in a way that ...

Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - current issues
Minor bandstack bug in 21e (don't know if it existed earlier). Start with bandstack having 5 entries. Click the band button (for the band you're already on) until you arrive at entry #5. Click on bandstack number (in main console) to bring up bandstack window. Click on entry #4 (or any one other tha...

Re: Stream Deck with Thetis
Gary - This looks great - very useful! This is the first I've heard of Stream Deck. Looks like they have several models. Can you describe a bit more detail about your setup and what it took to enable it to drive CAT commands? BTW, I also use the Behringer controllers. The PL-1 has a bit higher quali...

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
Notch filter suggestion: I find the MNF very useful. Two enhancements would make it even more so. 1) Ability to place a new one on a specific frequency with a simple shift-click operation (e.g. ctrl-right-click or something) inside the panadapter (and maybe waterfall). As it is you have to add one a...

Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - current issues
(Sorry if this is a duplicate but my previous attempt to post seemed to go into the bit bucket.) Another minor but probably easy-to-fix issue... If you lock VFO A, then cycle T/R (PTT or MOX), the band and mode buttons get re-enabled. If you click one in this condition weird things can happen. For e...

Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - current issues
Minor issue with the new bandstack window.. Bring up the bandstack window by clicking the bandstack number. Then click in the main console. If the bandstack window is now hidden behind the main console window, you can't bring it to the top by clicking the bandstack number again. Yes, you can fix thi...

Re: Audio popping on strong SSB signal
Phil,
If your suspicion is correct about timing, perhaps trying a previous version of the FW might have an effect.
They are all here for the Orion Mk1:

Re: Audio popping on strong SSB signal

Re: Audio popping on strong SSB signal
Very nice lab setup, Phil. Did you try adjusting the Ethernet advanced settings? I'm still thinking it's a network issue stemming either from the NIC/driver and its settings, or a Win10 issue other than those registry settings. Did the situation get worse after the Win10 20H2 update? Several people ...

Re: Audio popping on strong SSB signal
It may be a timing issue, Phil, but my intuition tells me it's something else affecting the Ethernet interface. I had seemingly endless headaches with drop-outs until I applied the throttling registry mod. In my case they were entirely Ethernet-related. Changing firmware versions did nothing. Nor di...

Re: Audio popping on strong SSB signal
It might still be worthwhile to investigate other settings. You should be able to run at the higher rate, IMO. Sorry - can't explain why you're having issues. Maybe someone else here can chime in to suggest something. With Thetis, P2 firmware v2.0, and the ANAN-8000DLE, I can run at 1536000 sample r...

Re: How to solve latency problems and VAC under/overflows in Windows 10
Having an app make registry changes just seems wrong. I don't think you'll ever see this built into a Thetis. There are other ways to automate this, including appropriate .bat or .reg files. I know there are other ways to do that, but, what about all the Anan owners who never read this forum? It wa...

Re: How to solve latency problems and VAC under/overflows in Windows 10
I believe that's true, Scott. But it's clearly due to side effects of whatever mechanism Win10 is using in its throttling activity. I became convinced it was an operating system issue after eliminating nearly everything else. Also, as others observed, it became much worse after a Win10 update a few ...

Re: How to solve latency problems and VAC under/overflows in Windows 10
Maybe *average* data rates isn't the issue. For a couple of years now, ever since moving to protocol 2 and GigE, I've been plagued with very short data stream dropouts accompanied by sequence errors. I'm sure my average data rates were just dandy. But the glitches were noticeable on both transmit an...

Re: How to solve latency problems and VAC under/overflows in Windows 10
I have to echo your observation and suggestion, Joe. After I made that one single change (step 1 in the referenced procedure by EA3AQR about the NetworkThrottlingIndex registry entry) not only did sequence errors magically disappear but so did all the data drop-outs I was occasionally getting, both ...

I'm hearing the same glitches in 2.8.11 - on RX2 only. They are present to the same degree in both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
No glitches heard with 2.7.0.
I'm also running Windows 10 v 2004.
Will continue to test variations.

Re: Two midi controllers at same time?
To clarify just a bit, Scott is correct, a function can only be assigned to a single control on any single controller. You can, however, assign the same function to controls on different controllers (once for each controller). I do this with the Behringer PL-1 and Micro.

Posting my results, using latest versions of SW and FW on ANAN-8000DLE. One is re-samper-on ("Force" unchecked) and one is re-sampler off ("Force" checked). In a one-minute time period at 15 MHz (WWV), I get 0.297 Hz variation checked, 3.4 Hz unchecked - a factor of 11.4 differen...

Gary, JT is of course correct - but I don't believe John (W1JA) was asserting that the WSJT-X cal function improves things (we have discussed it). He used WSJT-X cal only to observe frequency instability in Thetis as a function of the Thetis resampler setup, and saw a 10x difference in frequency sta...

Re: 7000DLE Mk-II PTT IN issue?
I guess I don't understand the problem. First - are we talking about Thetis or PowerSDR? The original post said PowerSDR. Also, historically, "full break-in" was used a lot to mean semi break-in with the delay set to zero. That's not QSK. In Thetis, I have a logging program controlling PTT...
