Yes, I've been using a dedicated Ethernet card/connection since I first got the rig. Also static IP address.
For the moment I'm blaming Windows and its Ethernet driver. I'm hoping when I upgrade my PC it'll solve the problem (currently using an i7 4000-series PC).

Re: Identifying strange panadapter waveform
I see this too. It's certainly not just a panadapter artifact since you can hear it on the transmitted signal with an external receiver. Tuned away from the carrier beyond the passband it sounds like clicks. It went away entirely after the "throttling" adjustment. Now it comes back randoml...

I wonder if everybody knows or remembers this GUI action (so it's probably worth mentioning):
Many controls on the main console can be right-clicked to bring you directly to the proper setup tab, making many of these changes easy.

I may be wrong, but I doubt anyone could 100% predict all possible actions on the database. You're not wrong, Scott. The DB handling code (import and export) is fairly robust against broken records of all sorts. But it won't find and correct more complicated things like incompatible settings that s...

If this is needed, then the software needs changing so you don't have to do this. We could do wit a definitive list of things that don't get re-imported, so they can be included. I have not spent any time looking at this tbh. I agree. The merge process you outlined above after "What does the m...

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
Richie, My most common procedure is the same as Mark's. In fact, I have a Tune button on the MIDI controller, right next to a drive level knob. Bottom line, I use Tune to get ready to operate. Eliminating the link between Tune and Drive would add complexity. Keep both sliders without eliminating the...

The extra effort put into understanding the operation of Thetis and other pieces of software has rewarded me with the most advanced, feature-rich, and customizable radio I've s...

And yet CW is where low latency is most needed. No argument, Scott. But I find that in using audio direct from the radio I have no noticeable latency on CW, which is quite important especially operating QSK. At reasonably high speed the audio effects with the low latency filter is objectionable eno...

Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - UPDATES and current issues
Slight modification to my earlier observation on mode switch speed. In Pre6 almost all switches of band/mode combinations are fast now - except for AM/SAM to DIGU/L caused by a band change. That is still nearly a 3-second delay. Switching from AM/SAM to DIGU/L within the same band appears to be fast...

Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - UPDATES and current issues
Pre6 running fine here so far. I had been seeing a 3-sec delay going from SSB on one band to DIGU on another band. Strangely, I wasn't noticing the same behavior when switching modes within the same band stack position. Mode switches are very fast now no matter the start or end point bands or modes.

Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - UPDATES and current issues
This is probably an easy one to fix and is easily repeatable. Running k9 second (most recent as of this writing). Run Thetis using VAC1 (say, for FT8). Turn Mute on, then close Thetis. On restarting, Thetis correctly comes up with Mute on, but VAC1 is also muted. If you then cycle Mute off and back ...

Some of us have thought about this for a while, Ron. I'd love to have QSK be silent like it is on the two amplifiers I have that use PIN diodes. In the 8000DLE there are two relays involved, one is an EE2-12NU-L (receive path) and the other is 277-4907-ND (transmit path). They are both on the PS and...

This is relatively minor but easily repeatable. On my 8000DLE running Protocol 2, if I power down the radio before stopping Thetis (usually inadvertently), Thetis then hangs, unresponsive, requiring its process to be killed to stop it.

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
Richie, This isn't high priority but may be easy to implement and would enhance panadapter use. For certain zoom levels, including the one I mostly use which is roughly 180-200 kHz wide, the frequency grid lines are 4kHz apart - an awkward size for quickly seeing a signal's frequency. There is a wid...

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
Yeah, it's pretty strange, but W1JA, with whom I've been comparing settings to try to chase this down, doesn't hear the effect (but was hearing it months ago, and dating back to the PowerSDR times). In fact, now he reports sometimes hearing the opposite effect (louder on AM modes). So we'll continue...

Yes I read it. I was hoping for a solution more to the point than compensating with gain. I actually tried doing that in the code myself and it works fine as an easy fix. Simply apply the 6db when coming into AM/SAM and remove when coming out. However, not everyone sees this behavior and fixing it t...

Yes, I saw that too, Scott. But since the same behavior - different audio levels on SSB vs AM - happens whether it's switched in or out, I'm still puzzled. The carrier's effect on AGC action is understandable and seems correct. But when I similarly switch between AM and SSB on an analog rig (my FT-1...

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
A bit more on this on closer observation. I tried it again this morning and observed something different. With Fade Leveler on, switching from LSB into AM, the difference *initially* is much less, not entirely gone (close enough that it seemed equal last time with a quicker listen). Then, over a per...

Are you sure, Chris? It makes no difference for me whether the fade leveler is on or off. Note that the default is on, AFAIK. Yes - quite surprising. Mine was off. I was led to this by comparing settings with John, W1JA, who was not noticing the difference in audio level. Sure enough, I checked the...

Richie - Here's another issue that I think is associated with the new capability of adjusting the passband while in CTUN mode. Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
As I suspected. Thanks for the additional info, Scott. I actually experimented with simply boosting the audio in AM modes, using 3dB instead of the 6 you measured. It worked, sort of. But doing this introduces a different problem. If you simply boost audio on AM then when a signal is present you'll ...
