Re: Recent problem using VMB
Tony Out of curiosity, have you tried selecting MME for the VAC 1 driver? I know that ASIO is recommended for lower latency... but, of course, latency isn't an issue with the digital modes. I don't hear any "pops" (now that I have fixed the problem that I described earlier). On transmit, e...

Re: Recent problem using VMB
Tony Thanks for the suggestion. I updated all of the Ethernet adapter settings as recommended in this document: https://helpdesk.flexradio.com/hc/en-us/articles/202118518-Optimizing-Ethernet-Adapter-Settings-for-Maximum-Performance But... the VMB audio output dropout problem still remained. I change...

Recent problem using VMB
I am having a problem with VoiceMeeter Banana that appears to have popped up after the latest Win10 cumulative update (July 11). Every few seconds, the audio output of VMB ( which I can monitor even with the HPSDR app closed )... in response to various audio inputs that I have tried... appears to dr...

Re: A bit of rx audio at start of transmission
If there is a source of delay (latency) in the receive audio chain... for example, wireless Bluetooth headphones... then you will keep hearing the received audio for several hundred milliseconds after the transceiver has switched to transmit. It notice this when I use Bluetooth headphones to monitor...

Re: VAC Fails after Win 10 Creators Upgrade
As an addendum to my earlier post: I uninstalled and reinstalled Voicemeeter Banana. That fixed the problem of the missing "Voicemeeter Output" in the list of ANAN-10 VAC1 available input devices... and also in the list of Windows Sound "Playback Devices". After reinstalling VMB,...

Re: VAC Fails after Win 10 Creators Upgrade
Brent My Win 10 -based setup has always been finicky on Windows updates* After installing the "Creators" update... yesterday... I had the problem you describe (VAC1 not providing audio input to the ANAN-10E on transmit). I noticed that in the HPSDR audio settings... the VAC1 settings had c...

Re: 8000DLE step attenuator values with auto-attenuate
If an oscilloscope is not available, one can do the following: Adjust the drive so that, in "tune", the transmitter produces 25W (not 100W) of output. Turn the transmitter off. Remove the Pure Signal coaxial jumper. Connect the Pure Signal output port of the internal coupler directly to th...

Re: 8000DLE step attenuator values with auto-attenuate
Based on Chris's observation that: using the internal coupler, and with 100W output, Pure Signal sets the step attenuator to 17dB...... The transceiver is set to 100W output = +50dBm The input power to the A/D converter (that is set by Pure Signal... using the "auto attenuate" algorithm in...

Chris Attached, is the URL of the KC9XG-SDR Yahoo Groups web site (files section), that contains (February 26 listings) block diagrams of the 8000. Note that, if the coupling loss of the internal coupler were 14dB too low (compared to what was desired to prevent overload of the step attenuator... e....

Re: 8000DLE step attenuator values with auto-attenuate
Chris Without knowing the coupling loss of the internal coupler (I.e. how much loss there is between the 100W output of the 8000 and the Pure Signal feedback output port of the internal coupler)... all you are observing is that the coupling loss of the internal coupler is 12dB less than the coupling...

Re: 8000DLE step attenuator values with auto-attenuate
I have an inexpensive 7.040 MHz S9 (-73dBm) signal reference that I purchased from Elecraft a few years ago. They sell an upgraded (but more expensive) version now... that has three frequency selections. It would be very easy to make one of these (see the XG-1 schematic in the XG-1 manual on the Ele...

Re: 8000DLE step attenuator values with auto-attenuate
If the preamplifier gain is 14dB instead of 20dB* and the volunteers who develop the software don't know that... then the S-meter readings and the panadapter readings will also be 6dB low. *This sounds like only one side (+ ground) of the balanced input to the preamplifier is being used. The extra ~...

Re: 8000DLE step attenuator values with auto-attenuate
Chris Scott The LTC6400 low noise preamplifier... that is included in the front end amplification chain of each receiver... has an "enable" pin. Could it be that, in the 8000 transceiver, this 20dB gain block is being disabled on transmit (to protect the A/D converter)? That would explain ...

Re: ANAN-100B Pure Signal Connection
Bernhard If your ANAN 100 is set to produce 92W of output => approximately +50dBm... and the internal feedback signal level (dup on, and no external feedback) is -10dBm... then the internal "crosstalk" coupling from the RF output to the RX1 input is (-10dBm) - (50dBm) = -60dB. I have previ...

As you described, the XDC-1 forward sample output port is looking into a 50 ohm coaxial cable that is connected to the input of th...

Re: External feedback level calculations
Brent Make sure that the line attenuator that you are using is terminated in 50 ohms (i.e. the impedance looking into the feedback port of the 8000 or the 200D), and not 25 ohms (the impedance looking into the feedback port of the 8000 or the 200D ... in combination with an extraneous, parallel 50 o...

Operating amplfiers in digital modes
Solid state linear amplifiers (such as the amplifiers in the RF chain of an ANAN-X transceiver or a solid state external linear amplifier) have RF output circuits that provide a fixed (designed in) RF load impedance to the output transistors*. *In contrast to traditional tube amplifiers that incorpo...
