Re: 7000MKIII Protocol 2 Firmware
It seems like a lot of people may be having Windows firewall issues. After loading P2 firmware (any version) and running Thetis (please only be testing with version 2.9.0.6), go to Thetis Setup > General > H/W Select and click the "Firewall Check" button. Make any corrections to firewall s...

Re: 7000MKIII Protocol 2 Firmware
That's a fantastic debugging idea, Rick! I hope people try it. If things work great at 100Mbit/s then that's more confirmation of our continued concern that the GigE timing in the build remains the root of the timing closure issue with P2.

How did you come by that assessment? It could just as easily be a software problem. Or perhaps no problem at all, since it does not affect everyone.

Yes. You should monitor the Active Topics link, which is available from the "hamburger" menu icon at the opt left of every page. If you do, you'll see a new topic about that started yesterday.

Re: SPE Expert Amp Interfacing
Tony, All the smarts and most of the DSP reside in the software, either PowerSDR or Thetis. It's the software that runs the amp, not the box. The box you call a "radio" by itself is no such thing. It's merely the "RF unit" part of the radio. The only interface on the box that you...

Re: Anan 8000 DLE: Delay in Transmit Thetis v2.9.0
Thank you for your continued support. I do not have any connection to the front of the radio. Julius W2IHY constructed my cable and it connects to the rear mic input and PTT input. I use a Heil hand switch. This may not help but I am unsure how it is wired to be honest. If I understand you correctl...

While always very optimistic and excited about Rick's firmware, it would be prudent to have available the Protocol 1 firmware just in case you want or need to revert back. Re: Anan 8000 DLE: Delay in Transmit Thetis v2.9.0
This question is going to seem non-relevant, but because the rear panel PTT line is connected to the PTT pin on the front panel mic input it might be important: what do you have connected to the front panel mic input and exactly how is it wired?

100 to 200 milliseconds is normal. I don't think there is any way to intentionally cause a 1 to 2 second delay even if you wanted to.

What Mark said, plus:
- You can find the PTT enable setting in Setup > General > H/W Select > Hardware Options
- Since you are using VAC, be sure that in VAC settings the "Allow PTT to override/bypass..." setting is NOT enabled.

Of course not. Center of 40m into a dummy load. This is with 100W drive, the power sags to 72W probably due to temperature. Can you clarify what you mean by exceed 72w? Adjust the PA gain? It's set for 100W during normal operation. Ignore my last transmission ;) I did not understand that power was ...

Re: 7000 DLE MK3 - Overheating/Fan Concern
Following your train of thought and the generally accepted 50% duty cycle for ICAS, I have tested 60 minutes of 3 min on/3 min off cycles while measuring the forward power/voltage and case temperature. The maximum power the Mk3 can sustain is 72W(2.90V) of forward power during this test. The case r...

The AmpView data looks a LOT better!
This is only a problem for you on 6M, correct?
If so, I'd recommend you contact the factory and/or US service (Doug, W5WC). It could be a fault with the 6M TX LPF.

Bumping this...on my examply 6m transmit is super flaky. It generally down on power on the entire 6m band. Sometimes after hitting TUN it will xmit for a few seconds, then cut out with no power. Trying TUN a few more times might get it to transmit again, maybe not. I have noticed that when this hap...

Re: 7000 DLE MK3 - Overheating/Fan Concern
What modes and what duty cycles are you running that are making the hardware "extremely hot"? ICAS (intermittent commercial and amateur service) has no formal standard defined. Informally, back in the tube days, it was defined as 5 minutes on, at least 5 minutes off. With solid state makin...

It looks like your installed version of DirectX, and/or your installed video driver, is incompatible with the DirectX code in Thetis 2.9.0.6. How old is your PC? What video interface does it use? What version of DirectX are you running (use this link to find out). You can try to update those things,...

Re: Glitches using Thetis with Log4OM
If you have audio glitches, then it is NOT a networking issue. Not true. Networking issues can cause dropped UDP packets. Each packet from the hardware contains a large number of IF samples. Dropping just one packet will cause an audio glitch. Dropping more than one is clearly audible. Some code in...

Re: Glitches using Thetis with Log4OM
As long as panadapter frame rate does not exceed the monitor rate, none of that should be necessary unless CPU consumption is very high. The one thing that has proven to work well when network traffic seems to be the villain is to add a dedicated network interface just for the radio. However the OP ...
