thanks guys - fortunately, it has been gone now for months - just after I posted this thread. Seems the nature of these things at times. I still have noise from another direction that is pretty severe - haven't been able to track it down as yet.

Re: N1MM+ with PSDR mRX on CW
Hello sir (4L5O):
I installed a K1EL keyer and have used that since then. I've not gone back to try the inbuilt CW generation. The K1EL interfaces to N1MM+ and for normal CW it is between the paddle and the input to the rig - the rig has iambic turned off.
Hope that helps,
Gary

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
Ok... it CAN be done using a MACRO. But you are missing the point. I had asked for, years ago, to turn off NB/MB2 when transmitting. Why? Because it caused the display to react to a strong signal - albeit MY signal. Alternatively I could have turned off NB each time I went to transmit - or based on ...

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
A 'twist' to your suggestion if it is about having to turn on MULTIRX, how about just make SPLIT ALSO turn on MULTIRX. Or an option to do so. Now, if selected as such, MULTIRX automatically comes on when SPLIT is hit? I'd rather see no changes than this level of extra complexity. Seriously? How is ...

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
Scott, Similar to what I still see occasionally when operating split, albeit in-band. I would be a bit concerned about your request though. When operating split and the TX station is listening over a range of frequencies (just as common as them listening on a single frequency, maybe more common) it ...

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
Also with great appreciation and respect to Richie's efforts I'd 100% agree with Scott re metering. And I'd add to it that there are all the necessary tools there currently - and then some - to do ANY measurement - vastly superior to any other radio of any 'sort' out there. I'd add that functionalit...

Re: Preparing for the next formal release of Thetis
notwithstanding your concerns and cautions Scott, just to 'ask again' (as it might have been missed by Chris or whoever might work on it) ... the filters are indeed something that I'd hope are straightforward to IMPORT/EXPORT. I had suggested that there be, on a right click of a filter for a mode, t...

Re: Preparing for the next formal release of Thetis
Chris: As mentioned by me in a WANTWISH a while back and by Scott at the top of this thread - what about the filter settings? I edit all of my filters for USB/LSB/CW which involves considerable entry work (each one of the 10 filters requires 3 entries)... I apologize if I missed it in Richie's list ...

Re: PS2 Green Indicator
Richie, thanks for the perseverance. Might the MON issue, where it too is changed (from OFF selected on non-CW modes to it being ON after I've done SPLIT) be related and be a clue - indicating software? They both are changes in state - and they both happen as a result of operating SPLIT. As a design...

Re: PS2 Green Indicator
Richie: re "31". I was referring to a conversation some time ago now where you gave a logic statement: IF CW ON and PS ON set ATT = 31. I assumed, yes, that that meant it would be set to that value, didn't think it would 'correct to/change to that from the previously set value'. This was w...

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
Forgive the dumb question: uninstall - does that mean if I want to try the new beta I will have to rebuild, entirely, my database? I customize a huge amount including lots of Appearance changes. Also I'm seeing guys here in this thread that say they did not uninstall and it worked, kept DB... any ha...

Ok ... Richie, I note you say in your video that with PSA on and mode CW that the ATT is set to 31, it is not in your video, it is at 9. And with my testing below I'm also seeing it not 31 at times - even saw the correcting light come on one time when on CW. [This is why when this was being discusse...

Re: PS2 Green Indicator
Scott, At least for me I did note that I am using the latest release. I'm convinced this is an issue with SPLIT. I note there is another anomaly when using CW SPLIT. If I start afresh - and I change from my 3 bandstacks: CW, SSB, DIG - the MON button is properly lit up for CW only. It is off for the...

There are numerous threads re puresignal - this one seems closest to what I'm experiencing so I'll continue it. The rig here is the 8000, coupler the Xytronic. Prot1. Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
Richie, So.... you say someone that has 50Hz would see 25Hz... but wouldn't that be a one time thing? I.e. he loads a new program that includes this change - and restarts the program now his step size, previously at 50, is at 25... so he clicks/changes it to 50 and he's done, correct? All is well ag...

Re: QSK with Thetis
Regarding QSK using Thetis. I'm new to Thetis having just installed it for the first time recently - I'm dumbfounded by it, it is absolutely incredible, like a new radio. My fears, or desire to have a reliable radio (I had been using 3.4.9 which worked extremely well re reliability) were unfounded. ...

Re: SPE Expert Amp Interfacing
The serial interface on my Expert 2K-FA, circa 2011, was as easy as it can get. Very straightforward. The interface on the KPA1500 - not well done. For the cost of 3 transistors to provide RS232 levels instead of TTL they could have made it more universal. I built an external box for this. I know th...

Interesting .... well I had been getting their updates on a daily basis and when first released there was a lot of hoopla on CESSB. The (Elecraft) claimed "no distortion with as much as 8 db increase in average power" was talked about extensively ... and of course, owners would say "i...

Since it was mentioned here: what is "wrong" with CESSB? I don't use it because of its bad rep published here - but the guys at Elecraft, having just added it to the K4, are raving about its capabilities! They're saying it is a tremendous increase in average power, as much as 8 db, AND no ...

Latest Thetis installed - all is well so far. Looks great! Running well. I'll run this for a couple weeks and then jump to Prot2. Since I've no desire to use more than 192Khz I assume the only other benefit is that it will use the 1G ethernet - correct? Puresignal, which was one of my hesitations fo...
