I did not expect this from the new MKII. I have been suffering from low output/ high IMD (without PS) on 10 an 17m with my 7000 DLE right from the beginning.

I used the XG3 at -73dBm level (S9 on HF) as well. Please bear in mind that the level accuracy of the the XG3 will be in the range of +-1.5dB or so. Good enough.

Hello Experts, some external keyers using a winkey chip (e.g. MicroHam) offer the option of generating a ptt signal during transmission. This signal does key the orion board (RX is muted an MOX is visible) BUT seems not to key the PA unit. Somehow strange..... The switching of the PA seem only to be...

Taking a look at the schematics of the PA board you will see that there is no connection/path to the RX switching part.

Installed the new snubber circuit today. I agree with Phil. It works just like the one described previously.

The Indian Rattlesnake is not tamed but somehow appeased......

Hopefully I have a little more time in the near future to try the internal fan on fixed speed.

No rattle but the fan is loud at full speed. Abt. 7-8 Volts should be ok while using an external controlled fan. I will check this next time.

Volker, Not sure if Scott is going to want to move this but - use DIG2 as an external keyer? Why would you put the radio in DIG mode to use it in CW? What am I missing? I DO have a microHAM Keyer II and I was not able to get N1MM+ to work driving the radio on CW ... not sure if this applies or not....

just tried this mod "on the fly" (did not manage to get the right pins for the fan plug - they will arrive in within a few days). Reduces the "rattling" noise A LOT. Will report next year.

in order to get Line Out signals from the breakout board, I was searching for the Orion MK II I/O Pinout (J16? 26 pins?).
