Re: ATT on Tx
Paul, K9AC, thanks for reply. That's how my selections look too except I ground BPF2 on TX as I have receive antennas connected. Mike, thanks for the link to the previous discussion. I sure hope having Pure Signal on or off (even if green on the main Thetis page its not active for cw right?) isn't a...
ATT on Tx
This happened, randomly, during the ARRL 160. ATT on TX, under the general then ant/ filters tabs in setup, was reset to 0 from 31 and unchecked. I did NOT do this myself and have my set up saved. Of course, on the operating screen of Thetis there is NO indication this setting has been varied until ...

Re: CESSB & COMP--obsolete or not?
The only choice I see under "Setup- Transmit" that has anything to do with CESSB is the choice "CESSB Overshoot Control" under speech processor. Perhaps that is what turns CESSB on and off?
Thanks

With Thetis 2.9.0.6, where do I turn CESSB on or off?

Re: CAT over TCP/IP rocks! And so does Hamlib!
I use TCPIP with multiple programs don't forget to, in Thetis, check "TURN SERVER ON".
Probably intuitive to those IT folks but wasn't for me
I now have Thetis talking to both log4om and n1mm+ using TCPIP. Very nice!

Thetis install fails. Says wrong version wdsp.dll
Tried updating to Thetis 2.9.03 on W10 64 bit computer. Get "wrong version wdsp.dll" and therefore can't finish install. Any ideas?

Re: Quieting TX/RX relay
I do have a 7000 blue face so yes, could do qsk. But the relay racket and wear and tear on the relays is not something I want to listen to nor do. But I'll explore that option more once I get back to NC. Presently I use a winkeyer which provides a ptt signal. Using that to key the rig has eliminated...

Re: Quieting TX/RX relay
Paul I do plan to make the changes per your info. I am portable in NM using an Elecraft K3 as the rig. Spoiled by its soundless keying. No idea why Apache labs didn't go the pin diode route. Not only noisy but, using the internal keyer, I found needed large delays to keeps from hot keying. Not at al...

Re: display jumps to center on transmit
Scott as always, thanks. I wasn't complete in my description. More descriptive note on issue. When I transmit the display brings the transmit freq to the center of the panadapter. When I stop and switch to receive the display reverts back to how it was before. An example. I'm listening on 1828 which...

display jumps to center on transmit
Somewhere there is a selection that turns this (xmit freq jumps to center of panadapter when transmitting) on and off. Found it once but can't seem to find it again.
Running Thetis 21k8.

Re: N1MM+, Voicing wav files, 7000dle Mic
I've been struggling to get the combination of N1MM, Thetis and VAC (voicemeeter banana) to work together to play the recorded SSB messages from n1MM. I can see with the N1MM audio setup and monitor window that the recorded messages are getting to N1MM. But no joy getting them to Thetis. Think i've ...

Re: Quieting TX/RX relay
All, Thanks for the replies. Doesn't need to be high power since only switching power out of the 7000. I did find one pin diode switch but large circuit board. I think too big to fit in the 7000 dle case. Maybe pin diodes aren't the way to go. Maybe jennings (or similar) vacuum relays for the 100W p...

Quieting TX/RX relay
Re TX/RX relay. Is it the EC2-12-NU relay on the xmit filter board? The relay in the upper right side of the schematic? Anyone done any mods to quiet this relay? To me seems unusual, in this day and age, to have a moderately loud mechanical relay for this function. Perhaps something like reed relays...

Re: Understanding DSP NR
I see your point. I'm fortunate to have space for receive antennas I use on 160, 80 and 40. Their output is low enough so the attenuator is never needed when using them. I rarely listen on the transmit antenna on those bands. Which, I'm guessing, are the bands where you're using the attenuator. Than...

Re: Understanding DSP NR
Scott, thanks for posting the videos
Quick question. With the AGC Gain set to auto (which works very, very well!) do you still "need" to set the AGC slope? If so, for weak DX, especially on 160, what would be your suggestion?
Thanks
Ron

Re: Choppy CW
Scott, at first your post confused me. When I cycled through the CW break in options on Thetis, QSK never came up. But "semi" would come up twice. Then "OFF". Recalling something you wrote, found that this only happened on bands where I had assigned one of the hardware antenna po...
Re: Choppy CW
Hopefully final update. To clarify, this is a 7000dle not the mk2 so no qsk. Using a K1EL winkeyer I have now connected its PTT line in parallel with a foot switch. Should have started with this! - In Thetis, turn cw break in "off". Using this combination I've virtually eliminated the timi...

Understanding DSP NR
Is there a layman's explanation of the DSP noise reduction in Thetis? Specifically what delay, gain, leak, NPE method all mean and how changes to any of the values affect the noise reduction? The Thetis manual briefly touches some but not all of these.
Thanks

Re: Choppy CW
Scott i reduced key down delay to 38ms. Might now be able to go back down to 30ms. I'm still experimenting with ptt delay. Have to get it working well with N1MM for contests. N1MM also has a settable delay setting. Between the two (thetis and n1mm) I think I'm set. One other variable is cpu usage wh...
Re: Choppy CW update
After a lot of experimenting it appears that the way to solve this problem is with ptt delay. The pop up box (when you hover over it) says "sets the hang time in ms". It appears this is not correct. What it appears to do, which is EXACTLY what I am looking for, is set the delay from ptt ap...
Re: Choppy CW
RR. If not using receive antennas then timing isn't an issue. Its only with receive antennas that the key down issue becomes, well, an issue.
Re: Choppy CW
Paul thanks for the note. I have increased the key down delay and that does cause, if the delay is set between 40 and 49, a shortening of the cw characters. Do you use any receive antennas? That is where Thetis flashes the red hi swr warning. I now understand its likely because the Anan internal rel...
Re: Choppy CW
Just thought of this. Does Powersdr work this same way (re key down delay)? I've never tried that operating interface.
Thanks

Re: Choppy CW
Scott, sorry. I discounted the assumed part of your answer. Probably shouldn't have. guess I really don't care why its happening other than that understanding would provide a path, hopefully, to fixing this. I am trying to find other ways to solve this problem (I use a winkeyer and hope I can massag...
Re: Choppy CW
I should have noted that if you want to hear what I'm talking about, turn the key down delay up to 50 and listen on a separate receiver. From 40 to 49 it sounds a bit choppy. After that it sounds what I'd call mushy. Characters run together.

Re: Choppy CW
Scott I understand the need to put in a higher delay value when using the receive antennas. But, still left unanswered is why, after a key down delay beyond 49ms, the resulting cw is choppy. Not the first dit or dah (actually those sound fine) but ALL the cw that follows. It sounds like its lost the...
Re: Choppy CW
Mark, I appreciate your post but I am not confused about the delay required. I completely understand that. And, if using external receive antennas the delay has to be longer than if you're not using them. What doesn't make any sense to me is why, if I increase the key down delay beyond 49 msec the c...
