Re: What does it mean that OpenHPSDR and Thetis is Open Source?
A very worthy thread here that deserves a sticky link to introduce this developmental path to those who are not aware of how things work in the open source world. It would be nice to simply point to this when someone is obviously and obliviously unaware.

Re: FM receive limiter patch for Thetis 2.9.0.6 x64
Wow, what an improvement! I just made a contact on 29.6 and the station was perfectly clear with a limiter gain setting of 2 notches (4dB). Playing around with the limiter gain it was perfect through quite a range and the minimal setting suggested by Scott was fine. This will be great fun to play ar...

Re: AM Carrier Adjustments (Transmit Tab)
Hi Scott, I was very curious about how the phase rotator in the CFC tools might affect the AM mode in Thetis having seen what guys were doing to gain asymmetry with plate modulated transmitters. My experiments with it did not produce any true positive peak asymmetry on AM. It was very easy to remove...

Re: AM Carrier Adjustments (Transmit Tab)
Hi Ken, Thetis does a remarkable job with the AM mode and is capable of producing a broadcast quality signal using the CFC processing if that is what is desired. My simplest understanding of what's going on is that Thetis produces a double-sideband signal and adds the carrier in at the end. So, unli...

Glad it got sorted out David. That was a horrendous delay but I think you will like the ANAN/Thetis performance very much.

The 200D picture used as my avatar is pure Photoshop but it's fun to get PM's here at the forum with questions about it. I attached a PDF document that was released when Pure Signal 2.0 was introduced. Note that I am unsure who the original author was (Dr. Pratt? Doug? Scott?) but it really he...

Re: The Adaptive Pre-distortion (APD) rabbit hole
Welcome to the forum Joe. The APD implementation in the ANAN/Thetis platform is certainly remarkable and it has evolved steadily to the point where it runs flawlessly with my 200D while using the latest Thetis release and the newest P2 firmware. That has not always been true but the improvements to ...

Bret, I would echo everything Scott has said regarding the voice processing elements inside Thetis (my external audio rack now is used just to provide 48vdc phantom power) and also add that each TX profile you make can have unique audio setups that you can instantly switch to while operating. This g...

The BLF188 LDMOS output device is certainly interesting. Looks to be designed to fill a niche for those who would like a 500 watt station without having to bother with an external amp. Nice clean looking case and display.

Re: where the best way to connect power speaker
I run a shielded audio patch cord from the headphone output of the ANAN directly into the line-level input of my computer's soundcard. The ANAN's audio then plays directly out of the computer's Bose speaker system and as a bonus, the ANAN's audio is readily available to any sound capture software I ...

Re: updates and issues using PA profiles
Hi Bob, Just curious here but I'm not sure I can see any benefit to having the PA profiles stored in the transmit profiles. I have three PA profiles, one for the ANAN barefoot to assure 100w out per band, one for an LDMOS amp that only requires around 35w to make full output and one for a pair of 3-...

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
Richie,
The new PA gain form is awesome! The PA profiles are going to make life a lot simpler for those of us who switch between low-drive amps and amps that need lots more. Very clever setup for getting a more linear response for each band from the drive slider.
Great job!

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues
It would seem there are certain amp's out there that really don't like the 700/1900 combination, but are just fine with the 70/190 combo. Scott, my new Mercury IIIs amplifier is one of those that does not take kindly to the 700/1900 two-tone test. It seems to be fine with the 70/190 combination of ...

Re: Thetis v2.9.0 - Updates and Issues

Thank you Rick for the clarification regarding the J14 jumper on the Orion board. Good to know it's not functional and also very glad that it's not destructive. Scott's warning was certainly valid in light of the Orion II "deadly jumper fiasco" that Richie and others had to sort out with t...

Oooooh... you're trying to motivate me Scott! I do have Quartus Lite (v19.1.0.670) installed but to be honest I am more likely to just put a jumper on J-14 to see what happens when the Orion is powered up. What could possibly go wrong?

200D Orion Board - The Function of J14
I have had several 200D users mention to me that the little bootloader/run switch soldered to the bottom of the Orion board and accessible through a hole in the bottom plate is very fragile. Apparently, if you slip with whatever tool you insert into the port to slide the mini switch it's very easy t...
