Scott, I did a search and didn't find any dedicated thread on using and interpreting Latency Mon ... I know it is mentioned in this thread ... please let me know if i need to move it ... so I have a new computer - it is in the 12,500 range for passmark for the CPU, 96%, and 91% for memory but is way...

well that's a start ... but that is still high. What band was this? And you're sure there is no antenna connected at the rear jack?

Also what filter width?

Re: S meter reading

I tried the above (last post) on 17M ... and saw what I indicated ... of course those results will indeed depend on what kind of impact the NF has on the front end. Generally on the lower bands it won't impact the results ... on the higher/highest band it will... here on 10M I see 28 db difference w...

Re: S meter reading

ok....but if you have ATT set then the noise floor goes UP and the S meter goes up as well! So yes it is taken in to account which is what he is seeing! I just set 30 db of ATT and my noise floor went up and my S meter went up ~ 4 S units or 21db roughly in the dbm reading...which implies I believe ...

Re: RX1 AF level with WSJTX

FT8 has proven to be a serious threat to activity in all other modes on the bands... in the past when conditions were just marginal I'd be able to work lots of DX say on 15 meters (using 6/6 stack) ... but now even with signals, MANY of them on FT8 and levels well above +0 there is for all practical...

Re: RX1 AF level with WSJTX

I know if I see a signal that is pretty strong and it decodes twice or three times during the same cycle, seems to be smeared on the waterfall, then I need to reduce the AGC gain. Other than this, it is really all a guess for me. Joe W4WT Joe, Is this true? I always thought those smeared double and...

Re: N1MM+ with PSDR mRX on CW

I believe I have done all this multiple times with both the VSP from MicroHam KII and also Eterlogic VSPE ... but I'll take a look, hopefully I missed something ... note this doesn't explain why CWX doesn't work and as a matter of fact 'acts' identically to what N1MM+ produces. I still believe there...

re-visting this issue. I know I've seen a number of guys post to the Yahoo group saying they have N1MM working fine with Power-SDR ... so here's what I've done/changed: -I bought VSPE as I was told by some that it works well in this regard. I had been previously using my MicroHam Keyer II interface,...

Thanks Rob, When I first brought it up it was on one of the three FT8 bands on 6 meters ... and I was monitoring so I intentionally did not use the VFO but instead typed it in. An easy enough exercise to do changing 1 digit in each. It didn't dawn on me until I went back and tried it again, this tim...

Re: Computer Status

That is a FAST boot time! I run my system/Anan 8000 nearly 24 hours a day - actually I do run it 24 hours a day for typically 2 to 3 days ... then shut everything down (systematically) and bring it all back up again (again systematically)... that seems to keep quirks from showing up.

Re: 7000DLE perfect QSK?

I've purchased 2 SPDT vacuum relays with the plan to replace the antenna relays on ANT1 and 3 ... I'm going to also modify ANT3 so that the armature is reversed and the RX antenna coming in (which is what i'm going to dedicate it to) isn't going to go to ground (and blow the RX preamp transistor) .....

Out of band reception

Here is a not so fun one... I'm tuning around 6 and I see a bunch of CW stations at the bottom of the band. Long story short they're actually operating in the contest on 20 meters and they're still good signals on 6. I don't believe I've ever had that before in any other radio. K1LZ 14019.0 S9+20 > ...

Re: How do I configure CW Skimmer?

Thanks Scott.... that's about what I had figured. Unfortunately. I think Skimmer is basically useless if set up for 3Khz (using audio) ... so it would need to be I/Q. And VAC2 is dedicated to RX2/ADC2 if I understood that correctly ... so I will need to explore what that means (in addition to the fa...

How do I configure CW Skimmer?

Anan 8000DLE Current: M-VAC supporting WSJT-X - selectable VAC1 (RX1/ADC1) or VAC2 (RX2/ADC2 when using RX array) So if I wanted to add CW Skimmer ... I believe it uses IQ ... I of course don't want to mess with my current set up using both of these as noted above. And of course since Skimmer uses I...

a follow up since I started this thread and don't want to leave it hanging. So as noted the issue with CW TX not working "right" (whatever that is) was real. Literally I called CQ using 1500W and 12 elements (6/6) on 15 meters and got zero RBN spots using 2.3 ... then downgraded to 1.7 and...

Hi Conrad.... I feel for you. Indeed although it gets pooh-poohed by those that aren't using the same feature/functionality it IS important - and it simply should work. That stated - I believe it is not PowerSDR ... rather it might well be the radio firmware. Perhaps the same hardware and methods ar...

Re: Filter WIdth

You can see if you bring up the SPECTRUM display, at least on CW, that 50Hz is where you lose the peak at roughly 0 db when using BH4 and at least 8192 (which is what I use). You can see this if you go more narrow from there. I have CW filters of, at the narrowest, 60, 50, 40, 34, 26 and have used t...
