Re: New current protocol (Protocol 1) firmware for ANAN-200D version 4.8 released

Joe, At the risk of stating the obvious, the reason it is working for Phil and not you is because the timing is not being met across the entire population of radio hardware. As the firmware is becoming more and more complex, it would appear that the timing model in the version of Quartus that is bei...

Re: LCD Fault

Simon, I have not looked at the code, and don't have an 8000, but from the reports of others it would appear that the LCD microprocessor is responsible for detecting faults associated with overcurrent, overvoltage and VSWR coming from the 50V amplifier board, and that any such fault requires the ope...

Hi Justin,

Just change the name of the rbf file to "metis.rbf". I believe that will solve your problem.

Re: Current Status

Just to clarify:

The 100 is the 100W version of the 10. Both use the Hermes 16-bit card.

The 100B is the 100W version of the 10E. Both use the Hermes 14-bit card.

John, In addition to confirming you've got the right LCD microprocessor code loaded, I'd suggest reverting to protocol 1 and PowerSDR. There's no guarantee that protocol 2 and Thetis will work properly regardless of the LCD firmware revision. Unfortunately I can't guide you on what the 8000 LCD shou...

Rob--you could check the board against the schematics:

Richard--not sure it makes any functional difference what revision Orion board you have. Do you have some specific concern?

Re: Diversity Operations

Barry, Non-coherent diversity basically is any method that causes one to choose between two (or more) signal sources based on some metric of signal quality, usually which one is the strongest. The S-meter, your ears and your brain make the choice. How you get that info to your ears/brain is up to yo...

That's a great looking mic, Simon! Dynamic, so no fuss, no muss with phantom/bias supplies. Did you use anything special to do the balanced to unbalanced connection, or just make up a cable that bonds the audio "-" lead to ground? This is my current favorite microphone, a Behringer B1 larg...

Re: Operating amplfiers in digital modes

That's very interesting, Stu, thanks for posting that! I wonder, because of the way that openHPSDR architecture radios (i.e. every Apache Labs radio) adjusts RF drive, setting the RF power to 100W and then adjusting drive with the audio level might not be a good method. This is because the gain afte...

Buck, No problems per se. However, you'll take a 3dB sensitivity hit using a power divider ("splitter"). You may or may not want to do that. A switch would solve that problem. Also, just be very careful to program it up right in Setup > General > Ant/Filters > Antenna. You don't want to ac...

Re: New current protocol (Protocol 1) firmware for ANAN-100D version 5.8 released

Dan, This is not the new protocol firmware, this is current (old) protocol firmware. As such it works with PowerSDR mRX and not Thetis. The major changes are that a) it has been compiled in a new version of Quartus (the Altera development environment), and b) has the other improvements and bug fixes...

Chris, Have you made sure that all of the Windows devices that are instantiated by VAC are set to 48KHz and, if available, stereo? Go into the Windows Sound Control Panel and check the advanced settings of each VAC device. One thing you can try is a total database delete on PowerSDR. Go to C:\Users\...

Good idea, Bill! I will make this thread a "sticky". Here's what I've posted in the past, perhaps it will be of help... Diversity can only be achieved using radios that have two separate ADCs. Currently this would be the 100D, 200D and 8000. In order to achieve any kind of non-coherent div...

Re: Anan 200d - no RX output VAC

Chris, If you are seeing good spectral and waterfall data during receive then it's not a relay problem. If the transmit side of the VAC link is working, then it's probably not a driver problem, something that has been effected by Windows updates in the past. What versions of VAC, PowerSDR, VB Cable,...
