Re: Thetis v2.8.11 - UPDATES and current issues
@Paul, W9AC, thanks for that Paul. Yes I have seen where the 31 is applied when qsk is switched on, and then reverted when switched off, tagged as change [W2PA_21a] in the code. at the moment since v2.8.8 it is : if PS-A is off OR (CWL or CWR) then att = 31 Richie. Richie, I'd think this is correct...

Re: Unstable, wide, nasty spur
It's simply removing a SM resistor - a good soldering pencil should do the trick. I do this as needed on the product that I sell. First, use some 0.025 solder to flow into the joint - then just hit it back and forth and pop it off. I'll take a look at doing this as I have those nasty spurs as well. ...

Mike, Just a stab at this .... you did say restarting fixes it so I would guess what I'm going to suggest isn't the cause. BUT the signal waveform on the limited pan display above looks very similar to what I see. I see it all across the 80M band and it peaks somewhere close to 145° (maybe 160° as i...
Re: Choppy CW
Ron,
I resorted to always using the foot switch to send CW when operating 80/160 w/ a RX antenna. I have the same issue re SWR and it would also occasionally trip out the amp - it would trip on "out of band".
I'll give your fix a try - see what I find as a 2nd data point.

I'm curious - why would you want to match what is known to be inaccurate - i.e. not correct? The factory setting was I'm sure very close to correct from the get-go. It is calibrated such that S9 = -73 dbm. Note all other manufacturers - ok, the Japanese, match this as well as seen in their reviews i...

Bhanu VU2MB, Thanks for the comments but I tried it all at the time. Scott and others were 'in there' ... I'm not the only one having this issue as reported at the time. The end result of my efforts was "I guess you'll need to have an external device" ... which is what I had to do. I could...

I'm not sure if this is the same thing you are experiencing but I can say I was never able to get N1MM+ to work on CW natively .... I was told by some they had it working - and others it was not working. Frustrating to say the least. I ended up having to go to a K1EL external device which now drives...

I was only saying by going to these values I eliminated the truncation of the first element being sent. Which I believe you say you now see as well. So it must STILL exist.

I don't know if newer firmware 'fixed' this but back in 2018 I worked with Doug on an issue where I was seeing "HI SWR" effects when using a 2nd ant port to bring in a RX antenna and while sending CW using semi-break in. Doug found at a Key Down setting of 7 (default I believe) there was R...

Correction/addition to what I just posted re SPLIT mode. First: the above suggestion would be if one has MULTIRX turned on. Second: is there any reason why SPLIT and MULTRX shouldn't just both be linked together? If one hits SPLIT, turn on MULTRX automatically? Last: If MULTIRX is turned off of cour...

Suggestion on how to implement SPLIT mode filter selection. When SPLIT is selected if one right click's on a filter button (other than the one already selected which is for the RX frequency or typically VFOA), have an added selection "Set as VFOB width". If clicked on set that filter width...

Scott, Sorry - I didn't say that it was 'insurmountable' ... didn't even think it could be seen as suggesting that. I was only saying that I've found that I might have to reboot, typically once, once a week (and then only as forced by updates) to have a perfectly stable and clean system .... vs. wha...

I offer this humbly for consideration. Might it be Windows changing - and if so it would be unpredictable (until and if what and how Windows is changing is discovered - at a minimum)? I still run PowerSDR, the last release version. I had tried using the resampler many times and had issues where it w...

Hopefully what you mean is that TUNE STEP, whatever its value, should be remembered with the mode (or bandstack). 100Hz is FAR too wide on CW for serious operation ... I use 2Hz on CW and 10Hz on SSB. It would be nice to have these set per the mode.

Scott: I'm curious does a splitter allow both apps to read and write? I run JTDX simultaneous to WSJT-X ... and would like to have JT "know" what band I'm on (I don't use JT for TX, just for decoding as it decodes slightly differently).
thanks - hope you are doing well.

Re: ANAN-7000DLE MKII Black Edition and KPA1500
Actually looking further - indeed the RXD input is defined as max min of ±3V .... however the TXD output is defined as max min of ±5V. This is to ensure there is a margin on the input .... and one would be prudent to design around min of 5V. However this conversation does correlate with the fact tha...

Re: ANAN-7000DLE MKII Black Edition and KPA1500
Note: If I'm not mistaken (and now I'm treading lightly) - and I'm not about to take apart what I built up (and which is nicely in a small metal box) the signals are indeed TTL ... that means nominal 5V high, 0V low. THAT is not RS232. And because they are TTL you will need to invert these (RS232 dr...

Re: ANAN-7000DLE MKII Black Edition and KPA1500
Mike, I stand corrected.... I've been using RS232 for decades ... and it has always been minimum 5V .... but apparently not! It depends on where you get that reference. I can see references to +/- 5V still.... but you've enlightened me.
thanks!

Re: ANAN-7000DLE MKII Black Edition and KPA1500
the definition of RS232 is a minimum voltage of 5V (nominal ±9V) ....TTL level is not RS232. It might work - I suspect it wouldn't, but the margins would be woefully small and data errors due to this could cause false band changes and potentially - for a very expensive "fix" - not so pleas...

Here's the issue .... there is no instantiation of a user available serial port through the KPA1500 USB line! REALLY bad design forethought in my humble opinion. Instead I used the CI-V port and designed/added some level translating transistors to make a proper RS232 serial compatible port - run tha...

Scott, I read that you had contacted the programmer/owner of DDUtil and asked to add 60M to a PTT function - and he refused due to it being limited to 100W.... you might counter with the fact that it is limited to 100W ERP! That means for example if you run a vertical you can legally run 300W and st...

Tony, So are you using the XVTR TX out jack and if so have you measured the Pout and its 'step size'? I ask because I'm considering doing 23cm EME and would have a transverter of course to do that. I need to know what to expect from that Orion MKII XVTR TX output jack. [rig is 8000 but of course sam...

Re: 7000DLE MKII I7 diversity issues
Just as a note - this doesn't sound like software .... this sounds like maybe a bad shield connection on one of your antennas. The antenna then becomes single-ended and noise can be introduced. Check connections on both antennas. [one can check this out by unscrewing the 'ring' of a PL259 and pullin...

23cm transverter to 8000DLE
So ... not seeing a whole lot of discussion here on how to connect a transverter let alone if it can be done properly. I have an 8000DLE and I was looking at adding 23cm EME using a Q5 transverter. I see the TX out jack for a transverter but looking through the 8K manual I don't see any info on what...

PS: re calibration. The out of the box performance is extremely good and unless you're using the radio to do absolute measurements calibration isn't strictly necessary. I will take a guess as to what you are seeing: you have some level of ATT selected on 40M! Just set it to 0 and you'll be back where you 'need' to be. Nothing else needed.

this assumes your natural noise level is at that level ... in which case it is a moot point.

I have to say as a design engineer this sounds like a "myth" ... timing issues based on what would essentially be a small difference in temperature. Sounds more like there is something that is not right in the interface and its protocol or the chip is not designed to do what is being asked...
