Re: 2.6.9
I haven't looked at the code yet but here is some conjecture. QSK works so well because when you key the radio in QSK mode, Thetis' involvement is minimized and round-tripping is eliminated. That's not to say Thetis can't be involved. CWX works just as well. And since these antenna connection choice...

Re: CTUN artifact
Here's another interesting clue: The effect is most pronounced when tuning with the MIDI wheel, or dragging the VFO in the panadapter display. It's less noticeable when tuning with the mouse wheel but is still there. The last time I looked at the CTUN code was a year or two ago so I'm a bit fuzzy on...

Using the 8000, as always, with most up to date FW and Thetis version. This artifact existed for a long time going back to PSDR.

CTUN artifact
I like to operate in CTUN mode. That way the display stays constant while I tune around. I've noticed for a while that I can hear artifacts on some CW signals as you tune across them - not all of them, just the stronger ones. I filed it away as something to investigate - annoying but not severe. But...

Re: Thetis QSK and the new default low-latency filters
The artifact isn't immediately noticeable on SSB, but over time, you begin to hear it as a resonance at the high end of the filter. If you can't hear it at 3kHz, go down to 2.5 or so and listen for it at the high end of your QSO partner's audio. As you pointed out, Bryan, it's also possible to hear ...

Re: Thetis QSK and the new default low-latency filters
Guys, I don't believe this is a ringing issue in the usual sense. It's more like a resonance in the Low Latency filter that happens in *all* filter widths and tracks the cutoff edge furthest from the carrier (i.e. the highest audio freq). I first thought it was a resonance in my headphones that I'd ...

Re: 7000DLE QSK Modifications
Nice work, Paul. W1JA and I have been researching relays looking for a really quiet replacement for the main TR relays in the various rigs. I've got an 8000 but the relay arrangement is the same as yours - two of them. Most reed relays don't have the contact rating for the main TR one. The Aromat yo...

Thanks for the experiment, Tony. I wouldn't expect to see any improvement in P1, only in gig-E and P2. Interesting that you saw actual degradation.

Tuning Windows 10 for Protocol-2
This is probably the right place to post this, rather than "Network Connections & Network Hardware" since this mostly has to do with P2 and that other topic it mostly about hardware. After some recent experimenting with Windows 10 network settings, I came across one that made a big dif...

Re: 7000 and 8000 Protocol 2 users: what say you?
Hi Rick, Just thought I'd chime in on this latest. I'd been running 1.5 with Thetis 2.6.2 for a while - since you released 1.5. It was quite stable and PS was working consistently - the main difference from 1.4 where it was randomly quitting. With 1.6 all seemed fine. But in an extended QSO on phone...

Re: Unstable, wide, nasty spur
Just noticed this thread and wanted to chime in... My 8000 has the spur at 1972. It seems to move around slightly, about a kHz or so over time, and wobbles in place a few hundred Hz or so. The peak is around -107dBm with 0db attenuation. It's about 3kHz wide. Interestingly, the peak decreases to abo...

Re: 7000DLE perfect QSK?
I noticed this too and am quite interested in knowing whether the 7000 is QSK-ready? I don't have a schematic to compare with my 8000, which is decidedly not QSK-ready. Although it could be made so, which is why I'm interested.
Anyone?

Re: Eterlogic VSPE autorun
Tony, Just to be completely clear... You put a shortcut to the file you saved from VSPE into the startup folder - *not* a shortcut to VSPE itself, correct? If that's not what you did, then try doing that and see if it works. If that *is* what you did and it's still not working, right click on the fi...

Re: Eterlogic VSPE autorun
Tony, Here's how I do it - there may be other ways... 1) In VSPE, File-SaveAs ... name the file SDR.vspe, and save it on my desktop 2) Click the Windows icon, type R, and choose Run. 3) When the Run window opens, type shell:startup and hit enter or click OK 4) A Windows explorer window opens up poin...

Re: Accuracy re fidelity on/with the TX display while using PS
I read it, Stu (I read nearly everything ;-). Your math makes sense. I think your point, put another way, is that PS corrects for net IMD through the entire transmit chain, exciter plus amplifier. This means the output of the exciter alone has not been corrected optimally. One wants to make sure tha...

Re: CMD PL1 issue with ACG Level control
Thanks for reporting this, Gary. I've been using both a PL-1 and a Micro, but I have the AGC levels mapped to sliders on the Micro, so I haven't noticed this. I mapped one of the PL-1 wheels to RX1 AGC tonight and can re-create your problem. Strangely enough, if I have that AGC mapped to both a mini...

Just to complete the story - yes, Thetis has continued to receive attention. Most (likely all) enhancements to PSDR/OpenHPSDR mRX PS that have been made recently have also been carried over into Thetis. Doug gets the credit for keeping this happening and in sync.

One more observation...
I brought up SDRConsole on my RTL dongle and tuned to my 80m frequency using the dongle's whip antenna. I again saw no difference in the spectrum with NB/NB2 on or off, while transmitting as in the previous post.

Re: NB/NB2 and Pan display on SSB-TX jumps around
I tried this out this morning. When I turn on NB or NB2 I see extra background levels on both sides of the main signal in the panadapter, that pulsates with my voice. These appear as very broad "shoulders" on the main signal. The behavior is not there with NB/NB2 off. I presume this is wha...

Re: Which Visual Studio version should I use?
Matt, We haven’t yet embraced the full Github process. So the best way to report this kind of minor change is to make the change yourself (and test it), and then send the modified source file to Doug, W5WC, who merges changes and stages the releases. In the case of the MIDI code, normally you could ...

Re: Which Visual Studio version should I use?
Matt, I've been able to test MIDI code with PSDR-OSDR mRX PS without hitting the Power button. It doesn't even look for a radio until you do that. Most of the controls still work, however, so you can test a MIDI controller's ability to control them without turning it on. Of course, ultimately you wa...

Yes that's true, Scott. Some of us are using Visual Studio 2015 or 2017. It works just fine under Windows 10. Doug then takes updates to source and recompiles under 2013.
