Re: Frequency Calibration
I realize this may not be the answer you want, but you might also consider buying a GPS disciplined 10MHz reference oscillator. Leo Bodnar makes a reasonably priced one. The 7000 will automatically use the signal. The 10E's will have to have their internal jumpers configured to use it. Once you have...

This topic has been done to death. Short answer: If you make the right adjustments it should work perfectly, and better than ticking the "force" boxes. Adjustments are a little different for everyone. If that's too much trouble and you get the performance you want (stability and number of ...

However, still waiting for the OP to describe his networking setup in more detail.

Re: Thetis 2.9.0.6 lockup on return to receive from transmit
The radio is connected to the PC with a second Ethernet card, directly with nothing else connected. The problem occurs if I disconnect the LAN form the PC. The lan is a 192.169.1.xx LAN, connected to the WAN router. Please clarify: the "lockup" problem does not occur if the main LAN conne...

This seems like it could be an EMI/RFI problem. Is your PC bonded to the station ground? Are you using wired or wireless keyboard and mouse (wireless is more resistant).

Re: Yaesu VL-1000 amp with 7000 DLE MKII
I don't have a Quadra, but a quick look at the manual shows that it does not support CAT, only the Yaesu 4 bit band data interface. So it would have to be a cable of some kind between the DE9 open collector outputs and the Quadra band data inputs.

Re: Remote operation
In my experience it is very difficult to get a reliable remote connection to any radio over 4G cellular. And, if you do get it running, the user experience is not anything like being in front of the radio itself. This becomes many times more complex with a thick client architecture SDR like our radi...

Sam, It seems some people are buying USB or other cables that end up with a DCE pinout instead of the traditional DTE pinout associated with PCs. If this doesn't work: DE9 DB15 Pin 5 Pin 4 Ground Pin 2 Pin 1 TX 232 Pin 3 Pin 9 RX 232 Then simply try this: DE9 DB15 Pin 5 Pin 4 Ground Pin 2 Pin 9 TX 2...

Re: What's the lowest possible latency input point for transmit audio?
Unfortunately, the current manual, while better than anything that came before it, still has many errors and omissions in it. In this case, it omits the VAC paths from the block diagram in question. Please forgive my crude scratchings: Capture.JPG VAC, by definition, has nothing whatsoever to do wit...

VAC ASIO is the lowest latency path if everything is perfectly optimized. It can beat the internal codec path by about 10 ms.

Re: Competition for Pure Signal ?
Consider the following wild conjecture, after looking at the link and watching the Youtube video (linked below). First and foremost, since the linearity measurements are most likely being made internal to the amplifier, only the PW2 can be linearized and not any part of the 7610 signal chain. One mi...

Re: 7000DLE MKII - External Fan
There are no settings or jumpers. If it's not working then it's a hardware fault. Is the internal fan operating? That fan and the external connector are wired in parallel. Also, if your 7000 MKII is old enough, it may have the original fan PWM controller. If so that might be throwing you off. This w...

This is unfortunately interesting. The presence of interference on the CODEC mic input in both P1 and P2, and becoming worse with P2. Does anyone else see this? I cannot duplicate it on my 8000 running P2 here. Is it something unique to new 7000's that use the Orion MKIII? Obviously rev's A and B ar...

Re: New 7000MKIII Protocol 2 Firmware Topic
So the spur is strongly associated with mic boost. That implies that the CODEC IC on the Orion board is picking up some sort of noise on the mic input, and that the noise is worse with P2 firmware installed. In terms of potential noise producers in P2, there is the gigabit Ethernet rate increase tha...

Re: CESSB & COMP--obsolete or not?
This morning's test wasn't meant to be a thorough analysis. I wanted to determine if CESSB and CFC can coexist and not create excessive grunge of the kind that's been reported. In fact, most of the distortion heard results when COMP and CFC are engaged with default CFC values, without CESSB active....

Yes, I understood all that Brett. I just wanted us to agree that the spur was also present with P1, albeit at a much lower amplitude. With either P1 or P2, which ever is convenient, would you mind testing what switching mic boost on and off does to this spur? And also what switching to different mic...

What is this spur that appears in your Protocol 1 screen shot? It's in all your screen shots, but not as evident in the P1 configuration.
