Apache Labs Announces the ANAN-7000DLE

Looks like the developers will need to add a new rig to the Hardware Config page in OpenHPSDR mRX PS. The ANAN-7000DLE looks like the big brother of the earlier 100 watt rigs with an introductory price of $2995.00. The spec sheet indicates it uses the Orion MK-II board and my guess is that it's pack...

Re: PSDR mRX General use questions...

Hi Gary, I've been following the thread with interest. Did it turn out that the module that Clyde - K2UE developed won't interface with the 8000 at this point? As I recall he wasn't sure if the 8000 had the necessary "ins" and "outs" to allow it to work. Hope you find a solution....

Re: CuSDR64 v0.3.3.0 (Feb 2017 Release)

Marc, your comments about the convoluted audio path made me laugh. It does seem silly doesn't it? Scott, your comments about the UI made my eyes go wide with all the possibilities. I definitely do understand that at this time the focus is on function rather than form, but at some future date things ...

CuSDR64 v0.3.3.0 (Feb 2017 Release)

I'm wondering how many ANAN users have played around with Hermann's (DL3HVH) latest v.0.3.3.0 release of CuSDR64 that came out in Feb of 2017? It doesn't look like there were a lot of visible changes but it does run beautifully and is a treat to look at. I made a brief video of some of the menu form...

Re: Band buttons dissappear and appear again

Hi Doug, The radbandGEN series of buttons are present in the "OpenHPSDR-Gray", "IK3VIG Special", "Dark Metal", and the "High Visual" skins that are loaded by the installer so it looks like the installer is fine. However, they were not present in the ANAN skin ...

Re: Thetis - Release notes

Hi Scott, I had some time to kill this morning so I pushed Orion_1.1.rbf into my ANAN-200D and fired up Thetis v2.5.2 to give it a workout. The database migration utility worked flawlessly in my move from the 2.4.3 to the 2.5.2 version. As I mentioned before, I really do like the new bandstack utili...

Hi Scott,

I clicked on the little "Bandstack" numbers at top center in the same panel as the "VFO Synch" and "Tune Step" settings.

This is a very clever utility within Thetis to manage your bandstack frequencies. I like the adjustable TX filter settings in the Console as well. Very nice!

Re: Band buttons dissappear and appear again

Hi Doug, I went through all of them and the issue showed up with each skin in both 2.4.3 and 2.5.2. In the cases shown in the screenshots below I clicked on the "SWL" button and that made the band buttons disappear. If I cycled down to 1885 or any other frequency within a ham band the band...

Re: Thetis - Release notes

Nice! Something new to check out when the next rainy day comes along. I have to say that with the Orion 1.1 firmware the 2.4.3 beta worked very well. I ran it yesterday morning through most of the afternoon and made several contacts on 75 meter AM. I noticed that a couple of the CFC components were ...

Re: Hermes Protocol 2 firmware v10.3 released

Hi Tony, Before I sold my ANAN-100 the temptation to see how it would behave with the gigabit firmware was too great to pass up. So, I installed it and my ANAN-100 ran THETIS fine at 192 and 384 for hours at a time. I jumped it up to 768 and it received fine for an hour or so. Then I jumped up to 15...

Re: Proper attenuation for Pure Sig from output of Amp

Hi Skip, 1. I'm not sure which ANAN you are using but I believe the return path for PS is through RX-1 on all of them. If your unit is a 100D, 200D, or 8000DLE then you can check for damage by tuning to a signal with RX-1 routed through ADC-1 and then tune to the same signal using the same antenna w...

Re: A bit of rx audio at start of transmission

Hi John, That's certainly an inconvenient feature! I wonder if some combination of the "delay" settings on the left side of the Options menu tab could possibly eliminate or at least minimize this? It kind of sounds like a buffer is holding onto some data and then dumping it when your trans...

Hi Tony, Unfortunately, the last gaming system that I built was in March of 2014 and it uses an ASUS Maximus VI board with the Intel Z87 chipset. At this time it looks like that Intel chipset has been left in the dust by the Intel Z97, Z99, Series 100, and Series 200 chipsets. As is usually the case...

Re: Some Thoughts On Asymmetry, Symmetry, and Using Pure Signal When Running AM With The ANAN

There is a suspicion out there that Pure Signal removes or limits the positive peaks when it is used with AM. Hopefully, the video below will put that rumor to rest. https://youtu.be/069_uUSz3X4 In the first scenario, the ANAN 200D is modulated with a 1000 cps tone right to the threshold where the A...

Some Thoughts On Asymmetry, Symmetry, and Using Pure Signal When Running AM With The ANAN

I often run into ANAN users running AM and at times see them set up to transmit with a considerable amount of asymmetry. Since SDR architecture first generates a DSB signal and then adds the carrier at the end, you are not actually modulating the carrier as you do with plate modulation or Class E ri...

Re: PowerSDR mRX PS v3.4.1 - Embedded CFC Preset TX Profiles

Hi Geoff,

Is it the XVTR Setup form where the data is lost each time you import a TX profile? I have to admit that I did not even know that form was there because I have never used a transverter with my ANAN.

Thanks and 73,

Hi Geoff, I'm not a programmer, and I have never run a transverter with my ANAN radios, but I was curious to see what references to the transverter settings were present in the database.xml file. Apparently, with the exception of the first two entries below which define the element name "XVTR&q...

PowerSDR mRX PS v3.4.1 - Embedded CFC Preset TX Profiles

If you have used any of the CFC preset profiles (SSB 2.8k CFC, SSB 3.0k CFC, SSB 3.3k CFC, AM 10k CFC) that are embedded in the new v3.4.1 release, you may have noticed that they induce noticeably high latency when they are being used. This is because I inadvertently built them with a TX profile tha...

The yellow "Mini Gender Changer" label on the "Port Protector" is misleading as it's a simple M-F straight through connector that repeats the female DB-25 connector on the back of the ANAN.

DB25 Connector - Easy Solution For Good Connections

Unlike my ANAN-100, the DB-25 connector of my new ANAN-200D was set too deep behind the rear panel to allow a good connection with my Winford breakout board. In fact, the breakout board could not be seated deep enough to make any connection at all. Sometimes, removing the captive screws on the conne...

Joe,

Thanks for sharing what you have found. I have to step away for most of tomorrow, but when I have a chance I will see if I can duplicate your absent database.xml phenomenon with auto-attenuate disabled and manual adjustment of the S-ATT level.
