Re: Panadapter & waterfall settings

Hi Gary & Scott, I thought I would get in here as I've seen this problem for some time. Here is what I see with my 8000 board, protocol 1 with ver. 3.4.7 software and ver. 1.9 8000 firmware. 160m - psa off, tune set to 40w, output panadapter reads -12 with Dup on. 160m - psa off, DEFAULT databas...

Re: Apparent glitches using VAC1 xmit audio

I wonder if any of the Ethernet adapter settings, such as UDP Checksum Offload, or others, affect the UDP loss rate?

Re: Thetis ETA for release ?

Hi Scott, I understand why you are confused. It is because I was confused! I went back and looked up the info for Minerva and see that I was mistaken in my thought that it still used an Anan radio for RF data. I see that is not the case as Minerva would do away with the Anan. I think I was stuck fur...

Re: Thetis ETA for release ?

Hi Scott, I haven't done the math but my gut tells me 1000 bast T won't support two data streams simultaneously from two ADC's able to handle 160 through 6 meters. Perhaps it will. I knew AD0ES was working with Minerva using Linux but didn't know about the client server approach. I like that idea pa...

Re: Thetis ETA for release ?

Chris, I fully agree that the software is coming along nicely and you, Doug, Warren, and others are doing a great job. However, without working firmware we can't get to the next level that so many have been waiting for. Scott mentions the Minerva project and that certainly looks promising but I don'...

Re: Thetis ETA for release ?

It is looking a lot less likely to me, given the amount of time that has passed with no progress reported and no evidence that it is being worked on, that we will ever see Thetis fully operational. Perhaps it is not possible to solve the timing closure issues with the current FPGA design. I assume t...

Re: NB/NB2 and Pan display on SSB-TX jumps around

I was working on EQ'ing a microphone yesterday and noticed the same "jumping" when I played back the audio I recorded. I record I&Q data. I didn't realize I had NB on when I started the playback but I did and indeed the same problem we are seeing on transmit shows up when playing back ...

Re: NB/NB2 and Pan display on SSB-TX jumps around

Hi Gary, Glad you discovered this! I see it too and it is what pushed me back to version 1.9 for firmware from 2.2. After reading your experience, I took another look after loading v2.2 back and without the NB on, everything now looks just fine. Apparently I had NB on when I was experiencing what I ...

Re: Pure Signal Issue

Hi Scott, After you mentioned you are at 2.1 with your 8000, I decided to give it another try to see if I maybe I had a bad firmware load but I still have the same problem as shown above. Don't know why that would be other than, of course, I have a "hybrid" system with the 8000 board and t...

Re: Pure Signal Issue

I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same panadapter view with 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2. I dropped back to 1.9 on my 8000 board and all is working well so it appears to be a firmware issue with my 8000, at least.

I ran into this some time ago. If you keep VFO Sync enabled (top of window) when not using RX2 or MultiRx, you don't need to disable Alex for things to work properly.

Re: Vac problem with windows creators update, creative soundcard solution.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the heads up on VB having to be reinstalled. I just did a save of all my parameters. I have Windows updates paused but the pause runs out on the 22nd so the update will auto load then and I'm sure I'll probably have to to a reinstall VB too.

Recording audio from Rx2

I was playing with Rx2 yesterday and listening to something I wanted to record. It then dawned on me that I didn't know how to do that and don't believe it is possible.

Anyone know how to do this or is this not possible with the software today?

Thanks,

Bill, look down at the bottom of the screen when you activate RX2. You should see two new panels displayed under the MIC/Comp/Vox control panel that allows you to control RX2 Mode and filter size.

Re: How to set up VAC2 with VMB and the UMC202HD

Hi Scott, Thanks for the info! Got it working with WDM with a buffer size of 256 and manual buffer latency at 3 (same as I use with ASIO on VAC1) and it works fine like that other than the delay difference you mentioned. I played with the buffer size on VAC1 and found if I set it to 512 and left VAC...

How to set up VAC2 with VMB and the UMC202HD

Scott, I have looked through the site and don't seem to be able to find anything specifically relating to the setup of VAC2 with VMB and the UMC202HD. I would like to get this operating as I switched to using all digital audio after installing the UMC202HD per your suggestion and have no problems as...

Hi Scott, I just puchased one of these from your link. Thanks for posting it. Looks like mine is newer based on the board date which is late last year and the date on the front of the unit shows 3/29/2017. The circuit boards appears different from the pictures I saw of the unit previously. It does h...

Hi Scott,

I appear to be "snake bit" on getting an image to work. I opened an account on IMGUR and posted the image, copied the image link and edited my previous post to put the image in but I still don't see an image. I left the URL link in along with the image link.

Hi Scott, Here is a quick picture looking from the rear of my rig while it is undergoing testing after doing a mod to the PA. The 8000DLE board is in a compartment below the PA board out of sight. I designed the rear panel using Front Panel Express. Fits nicely and looks good! Almost done now with t...

Hi Scott, I'll post some pics soon. Still finishing up the chassis. Mostly done now. First power-up and sucessful test of my 8200!

I know, what is an "8200"? That is what I'm currently calling my marriage of the new 8000DLE board with my old 200D PA/Filter board. I just got to a point in the new chassis build today where I could mount both boards and interconnect them. Powered the system on and it worked! Had just one...

I ordered the board Tuesday from Apache-Labs and it will be here Wednesday. I have a couple of different ideas for its use; one being a replacement for m...
