Orion (200D) and Orion MKII (7000 & 8000) users: P2 v1.4 released

Protocol 2 v1.4 firmware has been released for the Orion (200D) and Orion MKII (7000 & 8000). https://github.com/TAPR/OpenHPSDR-Firmware/tree/master/Protocol%202 Fixed L&R Rx audio swap, Ethernet timing changes, PS DDC0/DDC1 syncro changes, Retimed and performed FPGA timing closure. This sho...

Re: No TX audio in AM mode.

You are not providing nearly enough information to debug your problem. Did AM mode ever work for you? Or is this the first time you've tried it? Does the radio go into transmit mode? Do you at least get a carrier? If so, what power level are you set to, and what is the power level of the carrier? Wh...

Re: FM on the local 145mhz QRG but whit "tiny" voice

Ben,

I don't know anything about transverter operations, or FM operations, with PowerSDR. However, it might be as simple as changing your transmit passband settings to be wider in Setup > Transmit.

Re: Hermes Protocol 2 Gigabit firmware for ANAN-10E & 100B

There is some available now, although it is a bit dated: https://github.com/TAPR/OpenHPSDR-Firmware/tree/master/Protocol%202 As for when that will be updated to match that available for the Orion and Orion MKII it is hard to say. Per the last weekly developer Teamspeak conference (open to all), Phil...

Re: 200D Protocol 2 users: what say you?

A fix is being worked for the swapped audio. With luck it will be out soon.

All other issues except Seq errors are Thetis related so let's keep those separate, please and concentrate on the firmware only here.

Re: 200D Protocol 2 users: what say you?

Hi Rick,

Your logic seems impeccable to me! I only use VAC, so I'm not a good test case.

Sounds like we need to get the client dev's involved.

Re: Balanced (XLR) microphone connections

Cecil--of course a microphone level signal will not properly drive the line input. Why not just make a cable to connect to the microphone input? If you have your heart set on driving the line input, as you point out you will need a microphone preamplifier. I have always been partial to the very inex...

Rick--I can't update the repo. It has to be Joe. Abhi said NO systems were going to ship with anything beyond 2.3 because none had the new memory in them yet. So color me confused!

Nevertheless, and most important, thanks for all that you do! :)

The latest official release is 2.3: https://github.com/TAPR/OpenHPSDR-Firmware/tree/master/Protocol%201/Orion_MkII%20(ANAN-7000DLE_ANAN-8000DLE) I recommend you use that. How old is this 7000? Is it brand new? If so, it is possible that the factory shipped it with something experimental by accident....

When PowerSDR won't start or exhibits bizarre behavior (database reset/removal)

All data, and the entire state of PowerSDR, is stored in a series of files. See "Where are my settings stored and how can I back them up?" A corrupted database file can cause PowerSDR to not start, or to exhibit really bizarre behavior. The design of the database code in PowerSDR predates ...

That's exactly right on the DDC assignments, Rob.

Re: 200D Protocol 2 users: what say you?

Now slight audio "chatter" and seg>57 only with sample rate = 1536000. No issues with lower sample rates. That's most likely a limitation of your PC. Audio L/R still swapped compared to PowerSDR 3.4.9. This is not a Thetis problem, Rick will have to look at the firmware. Rob, are you seei...

If you can't seem to find settings that keep the VAC resampler stable, just turn it off by checking the two "Force" checkboxes and leave the rate parameters set to 1.00000.

If you are having trouble with the resampler stabilizing, simply check off both "Force" checkboxes (with the force parameter left at 1.0000).

Gary: open the port as http://127.0.0.1:80 (or whatever your port number is) on the same machine. If memory serves, you have to enable it, then restart Thetis.

Re: HTTP Server?

It has some very rudimentary and fragmented functionality and is not by any means a finished capability. I've tried it and it shows great promise for the future. I have no idea who the dev's are/were on this, but perhaps we should start sending them free pizza and beer ;)

Re: Quirks with Thetis

This is the best place to report issues. The dev's are monitoring, but not jumping in per se. With respect to functionality such as TX waterfall scaling, these are known issues and we all just have to be patient. With respect to firmware issues, it would seem that the Orion (200D) image is in most n...

Re: Anan 7000 Firmware

The best firmware for both protocols are the latest revisions posted to the TAPR Github repository. See the links in the sticky posts in the firmware sub-forum here.

The very recent P2 release for the Orion MKII is working pretty good for most people on both the 7000 and 8000 hardware units.

Re: how to controll this 2 attenuator ???

This is controlled from the main console via the ATT control. 10dB selects the 10dB pad, 20dB selects the 20dB pad, and 30dB selects both. If you select more than that the software starts to add in attenuation from the step attenuator IC on the SDR board itself. If you want finer grain control than ...
