Re: Thetis Not Saving Settings

Perry, I have always used "typical". I have never experimented with the other installer settings. The fact that you have a history of this problem with PowerSDR implies that it may have something to do with permissions on your PC because, while not perfect, saving the state of the software...

Re: ANAN 7000/8000 - CAT interfaces and SO2R capability?

P2 and Thetis work the same as PowerSDR and P1 in this respect. As far as I know none of the dev's are interested in adding full SO2R capability. However, you are free to lobby them to do so, or to find another dev who wants to work on adding such capability. Remember that all software and firmware ...

Re: Odd XMIT Artifact after PTT released

Well, you can't do any better than the low latency filter setting on phone. That exhibits approx. 20mS of delay at any length setting (because it is a minimum phase FIR filter, not a linear phase FIR filter). The defaults for RX, MOX, RF and PTT delay are 0, 10, 30 and 0, in that order. Although the...

Re: ANAN-200D and WSJT-X/FT8 TX tone on waterfall display mushrooms

It would seem that with the release of WSJT-X 2.1, they have moved from 4FSK to 4GMSK for FT8. In other words, this eliminates the instantaneous frequency changes, makes them more gradual, and therefore should substantially reduce the bursts of energy that are seen on the waterfall between tones. Jo...

Re: 7000 and 8000 Protocol 2 users: what say you?

It seems that the problems you are experiencing are based on a lack of understanding about how the software and firmware works and not due to any deficiencies or bugs in the software and firmware. 1) antenna can be changed only using the DDC2 button. the DDC1 button is not working at all. The DDC as...

Re: 7000 and 8000 Protocol 2 users: what say you?

The firmware version you have tried is probably not making timing on your specific hardware. Try the experimental version that was linked a few posts up from here in this thread, or try an older version like 1.7 or 1.8 and see if that helps.

Re: Odd XMIT Artifact after PTT released

Hi Dave, I can see the video now, not sure if others can see it. What you are seeing seems to be an affect caused by latency (delay) in the signal processing chain, as you suspect. However, it is most unusual. It appears that you are using MOX for PTT control, is that correct? The artifact is almost...

Re: Alex and Thetis

Hi Gary, What you say is only true under certain circumstances. Remember that the term "RX2" in the context of our radios is a highly variable thing. If you equate RX2 to ADC2 (or ADC1, depending on whether you start counting at 0 or not :D ) then, yes, you are absolutely correct. This is ...

Re: Alex and Thetis

The pre-selection (bandpass) filtering in the ANAN series of radio hardware is, I believe, only a 3-pole design. Therefore the selectivity ("Q") of these filters is not terribly impressive. A good way to demonstrate this to yourself is to use the WB (wideband) display feature of Thetis and...

Re: GPSDO Tutorial?

Looks like fun for the experimenter. But quite a rat's nest! Once you add in real packaging the price is going to come up, and for $125 or thereabouts you can have a nice BG7TBL clone or even Leo Bodnar's entry level unit, and either will probably be more reliable because the parts count is so much ...

Re: Pure Signal & external amplifier

Danie,

In Setup > General > Ant/Filters > Antenna you need to make sure that ATT on TX is ON, and RX BYPASS on TX is ON.

Finally, you need to have the coupled output from the coupler attached to the BYPASS input. Do not exceed +13dBm on that input.

N1MM works with two digit port numbers just fine. I'm not surprised it does not work with three digit port numbers. I doubt it would be considered a bug by the author. Besides you, who uses three digit port numbers? ;)

I don't have SDR Console installed, but I believe that Simon follows the standard Windows ribbon bar UI paradigm. If he does, then merely double clicking on a menu item at the top will alternately show and hide the menu bar.

You've posted this question in the firmware sub-forum, so I'll give you a firmware based answer: try loading P1/PowerSDR and see if it works, OK. If it doesn't then it's probably a software or hardware problem and we'll have to move this topic to the right forum. If P1 does work OK, then reload P2 a...

It tough to know if this is a software issue or firmware issue. When you cycle Thetis it will act to reinitialize the active settings in firmware. My personal opinion is that this is a firmware related issue.

Glad it worked out, Kevin. You win the award for the most complex MIDI setup!

One thing I've been thinking of lately is doing macro buttons in VMP for different modes and mics.

Also, a new version of VMP was just released that fixes some bugs.

Interesting. I don't have JTDX (and have no interest in installing it). Using WSJT-X, under the same conditions I get 39dB into WSJT-X, which 15dB different than you. At this point I am at a loss to explain where that 15dB difference is coming from. I think I might have this sorted out. The peak-to...
