Re: External 10MHz clock question: Sample clock

The 122.8 MHz crystal is always used and all clocks are generated and locked the same way, regardless of whether the 10MHz reference is internal or external. The hardware design alone shows this, as the firmware does not know where the 10MHz reference is sourced from, i.e. there is no hardware input...

Re: ANAN 10E AUDIO PROBLEM

Hi Mark, The problem is that the PowerSDR code is total spaghetti, and nobody knows all of the dependencies in it. This can scramble databases in really weird and unexpected ways. The one thing you should do is maintain multiple, separate configurations for PowerSDR, one for each type of radio or ra...

Re: ANAN 10E AUDIO PROBLEM

The advice to use VMB was not to fix audio coming from the hardware unit, but to allow you to use the radio more normally through your PC, especially since it would appear that your hardware may be broken :( As you point out, the 100D works fine. Barring any setup problems in PowerSDR, this seems to...

Re: ANAN 10E AUDIO PROBLEM

That's very strange, Mark. If you've got good VAC audio then you ought to also have good audio out of the hardware unit. That you don't implies something wrong with your Ethernet connection in the PC to hardware direction. However, if your RF output is good, again, that makes no sense. As for fully ...

Re: Problem with multiple antennas

Ok, it's not the switch. Go into the shared antenna configuration where the signal is attenuated. Then physically disconnect the RX1 connection. What happens? If the problem goes away it's not software (and I don't think it is). I'm thinking more along the lines of poor isolation in the splitter. Wh...

Re: VAC2 attenuation?

What happens if you eliminate the switch? Pick an antenna and connect the outputs of its splitter to both ANT2 (for instance, but it has to be the selected antenna) and RX2 at the same time? Does the behavior still happen then?

Or...in PowerSDR change your region to "Extended", but be careful because PowerSDR will now allow you to transmit outside of band allocations so being legal becomes all about operator skill ;)

Re: WSJT-X FT8 - OpenHPSDR 3.4.9 - 60M

I don't want to turn this topic into a major rules debate, but there are two interpretations of 47CFR97.303(h) among amateur operators: a) If you believe that emission designator 2K80J2D includes FT8 transmitted anywhere within the allowed 2.8KHz passband, then simply set your dial frequency to one ...

Re: CAT Control Issues with HRD

I had successfully set this up in the past with no issues, but I was running Thetis and an older version of HRD It sounds like you need to go back to the older version of HRD. The CAT code in Thetis and PowerSDR mRX PS is effectively identical. If the older version of HRD worked with Thetis it shou...

Re: Thetis ETA for release ?

We purchased this hardware from Apache Labs. In my opinion, THEY are the ones that should be providing us a monthly status on the development. How do you figure that, Joe? Apache doesn't produce the firmware, the software, or any documentation of the firmware or software. All they owe us is hardwar...

Re: N1MM+ with PSDR mRX on CW

Here's how to set up N1MM+ to key PowerSDR. This is a proven configuration. It works on the 8000 here. It worked on the 7000 that Rob Sherwood used in the last 160M CW contest. I believe Chris, W2PA, has an identical setup. First order of business: you will need to set up two virtual serial port pai...

Re: Selecting the right SDR Transceiver ?

Howdy, neighbor ;-) There is almost zero difference between the 7000 and 8000, they both use the exact same SDR circuit card, the Orion MKII. The differences are limited to: - 200W vs. 100W (not an issue for you since you have an amp, so advantage 7000) - Large and heavy vs. medium sized (advantage ...

Re: Orion MK II - Unstable frequency

Here is a snippet of the schematic showing the external clock input and automatic selection circuit. The jumpers at the input provide options with respect to a differential or single ended input (J24) and a 50 ohm or high impedance termination (J22), whichever your external clock source requires. If...

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

I know you are probably not going to do this, but it would be so very useful to know if the problem is because the relay driver register did not get written correctly or if the problem is really a balky relay. My guess is the former, since the new firmware substantially improved the problem.

Re: Bricked my radio, what to do next?

Conrad reported separately that the problem was that he was not using the proper clicks to download the firmware .rbf file from the TAPR github site. He was therefore getting a file but not the right file. Once he downloaded the file correctly everything was fine. It is beyond annoying that the gith...

If you take a look at the schematics (links available in the schematics sub-forum) you could probe the boards to see if the relays are getting the right control signals at the right voltages.

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

If a large number of relays are "sticking" it sounds like it could be a problem with one or more relay control ICs. If that turns out to be the case then that would be a different problem than the occasional balky relay that some people have experienced and not a fundamental design flaw, b...

The one thing you can do is maintain multiple, separate configurations for PowerSDR, one for each type of radio or radio configuration you have. It's definitely an option for the developers, Joe. However, web apps suffer from speed (think spectral display) and UI (knobs, sliders, buttons, etc.) design restrictions, and also are limited in how they can interact with the hardware platform, i.e. moving audio might be difficult. It seems very li...

Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

Yes, but will it be a Windows client or a Linux client? That makes a big difference to me. I only have Windows and Android when on the road. I dare say most others are in the same boat, perhaps with iOS instead. More importantly, when will it achieve parity with the PowerSDR feature set? I won't use...
