Re: TouchOSC custom tablet MIDI control surface

Great job, Prem! Excellent use of the multiple screen capability of TouchOSC, too! :) :) :)

Now you just need a wireless headset so you can roam around with your tablet and work the radio wirelessly!

And, when you decide you want to change something, you can! :D

Re: Anan 7000 External Fan Connector

Abhi,

What is the pinout, please? And is there any over-current protection on that connector, i.e. if you short one of the pins to ground will you blow a trace off of the board?

Thanks,

Scott

AFAIK it does nothing but phase lock the receivers. Everything else remains under the operator's manual control.

OK, Gary: if indeed you are hearing something then I don't know what is causing it! ;) Because there is no magic in SD. It's exactly the same as MultiRX except the receivers are phase locked. I've never used SD. There is no point for me. My antennas are so radically different that there is no compar...

Not sure, Jeff. I'm not seeing that problem here. Perhaps try saving a TX profile when in AM mode and see if it sticks then.

Re: TouchOSC custom tablet MIDI control surface

Short answer: no.

Long answer: you would have to write a Windows application that obtains the frequency from PowerSDR using a serial CAT connection and then re-transmits that over a MIDI connection to TouchOSC.

Re: Diversity Operations

Stereo diversity is a non-coherent, non-beamforming mode of diversity. It cannot result in better performance than the better of the two antennas attached. No SNR improvement is possible over the better of the two antennas in this mode of operation. From an old Flex Radio paper on the topic: "T...

I can't speak for Simon, but... One of the important requirements to run SDR Console is the Protocol 2 firmware. Unfortunately, there has been little progress on Protocol 2 for nearly a year now. Currently, Protocol 2 is in a state where it may or may not make timing on your particular radio. Some p...

Re: PowerSDR mRX PS 3.4.6 Released

Jeff,

It doesn't do that for me. However, I have a bunch of Transmit Profiles set up, and when I change modes it automatically abides by my Transmit Profiles. Perhaps you need to devise and store some profiles?

Yes, I've only had bad experiences with RemAud. Also, I do not seem to have the same problems you do with the transmit audio path. Mine always works 100%. If you want to try something completely different, RCForb from http://www.remotehams.com/ is supposed to work exceedingly well. You could combine...

Re: 200D RX2 ADC Overload

What is the reason for this ADC over load ? Too large of a signal on the input. What we have to do to clear this ? Remove the overly large signal from the input. For example, if it's a broadcast station, utilize a broadcast band filter. Or, if it's an overload on a second antenna during your own tr...

This came up in another thread and I thought it might have some value here as a separate post... Although 700 and 1900Hz are the "standard" for official two-tone IMD performance tests, it is by no means necessary or required that to use those tones specifically. I set my two-tone test to r...

The VFO lock problem is a software thing, i.e. PowerSDR. It has nothing to do with the firmware.

Yup, close. The 7K and 8K use 16dB pre-amp's vs. the 20dB pre-amp used on all of the other radios, so there is a 4dB difference there. There is also some kind of weird non-linearity or amplitude variation in the 8000 feedback path that I'm researching. But on all of the 10, 100 and 200 series radios...

Thanks for the look, Clay, it looks pretty good! Too bad they chose to use a -60dB coupling factor. This puts the feedback level at about +2dBm at 1500W. That will work, certainly, but is not optimum, which is more like +7dBm. And it becomes less optimum as power is reduced. IMHO, it would be better...
