Re: Introducing the ANAN-8000DLE MKII
I wonder how they are implementing the balanced (xlr) input circuit wise? Does it maintain differential processing through the audio stages up to digitalization? Other than common mode noise rejection from cabling shields, what advantage is being taken in the internal audio processing? Edit: from th...

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
dittos... I quite literally have a slider on my midi that I'm always bumping and knocking off my correct input power to amp. I could use a lock/unlock for that slider. like a safety on a gun, hi.

Re: Numark DJ2GO2
That's nice - and a neat job labeling it! Maybe I'll play around with other midis later, but the one I have does all I need it to. As I wrote in the post, most of the features are superfluous or dysfunctional for me on the midi, and there's no need to duplicate them. Simpler is better! (labels are t...

Re: Numark DJ2GO2
I've finally shaken out the Numark DJ2GO2 mostly, and determined a configuration that suits my needs. First, summarizing my findings: - This midi interface natively sends the same midi commands from many of the controls, left and right. I've not found a resident toggle switch for these control, and ...

Re: Numark DJ2GO2
Thanks Richie! I believe the mapping is indeed internal and not adjustable withou some kind of external program/editor, which is an expense and learning curve I wish to avoid. I'm making some progress with adapting the Numark unit to my needs now and will post a summary of my results here soon! 73, ...

Thanks, it looks very similar. They will let me return this one if I can't make it work, so maybe the Hercules would be easier.

Re: Numark DJ2GO2
Hi Scott, yes, sort of. They enable the buttons flanking the center of the unit 1-4 to be more or less independently assigned to (at least the first two) of the four modes. But other controls and all sliders and knobs are unchanged by mode. I may keep it anyway, as I've addressed several of the bigg...

Numark DJ2GO2
After a long time experiencing some mouse frustration, I picked up this neat looking and compact midi unit on closeout at a local music shop here in PEI. I've managed to set up a number of functions that seem to work very well, but have run into a problem. I started on the right half of the control ...

Re: Orion 5.2 firmware released (current protocol/Protocol 1)
Thanks for the replies and also the backstory. Oh, I plan to hang on to the 200D for awhile, it's still the best platform I've used here. I am a bit concerned that, since migrating to the new i7 box here, and loading 5.2 firmware and then going back to 5.0, I'm beginning to experience some issues - ...

Re: Orion 5.2 firmware released (current protocol/Protocol 1)
You're right, Scott, I didn't know that A.L. wasn't responsible for all firmware. Strange business model, but it seems to work for them - all I need to do to get the promised features for my 2 year old 200D is upgrade to a 7000DLE, right? A new 3K radio every couple of years addresses the faulty fir...

Re: Orion 5.2 firmware released (current protocol/Protocol 1)
Tried to install 5.2 today, but it is still faulty firmware - doesn't run Pure Signal. Had to re-install 5.0. Not sure what features 5.2 was supposed to add, but it would be nice if Apache Labs would follow up and fix problems like this. You shouldn't have to buy a new radio to get software that wor...

Re: Apache Labs Announces the ANAN-7000DLE
Pretty cool. Just last night K2BU and the 75M group were speculating on the "discontinued" status on retailers for the 200D, etc. Guess this is the "new kid in town." Kind of odd that they went to separate 1/4 inch phone jacks rather than the 1/8 stereo mini jack for speakers L/R.

Re: Electronic bias systems vs. PureSignal
Re: Alpha 89 causing Pure Signal to "chase its tail" under auto-attenuate, according to Alpha expert tech Bradley Fochen of KOHM Electronics, Colorado Springs (may be the last of the original ETO/Alpha team working on these), the 89 DOES indeed play games with bias, although it's not an EB...

Re: Alpha 89 vs. PureSignal
Probably, Scott. Appreciate the comments. Will research the 89 further, but something is definitely going on to upset the PS calibration when the audio/mic input drops to zero.

Re: Alpha 89 vs. PureSignal
A lesson learned with variable-bias linear amps like the 89 is to deactivate the DEXP setting to avoid generating brief transient bursts of IMD (easily visible on the transmit panagraphic display) when transitioning from zero db mic input. Even a little background noise, like the amplifier fan, is e...
