Re: In case you missed it: PowerSDR mRX OpenHPSDR v 3.4.3

It appears that the default setting for PRO Latency is "4" which is where I have left it. I have not played around with any of the CTune features that Chris has been working on but I'm looking forward to checking that out very shortly! 73, Rob http://www.w1aex.com/archive/pro.jpg

Re: In case you missed it: PowerSDR mRX OpenHPSDR v 3.4.3

Thanks for the release description Scott. When I place my cursor over the PRO Latency setting on the Hardware Config page a pop-up that says "Packet Re-ordering Latency" shows up. That sounds like it might be a correction for packets that arrive out of sequence, which you've mentioned a fe...

In case you missed it: PowerSDR mRX OpenHPSDR v 3.4.3

Version 3.4.3 showed up yesterday at the download link shown below. I've spotted some of the new stuff in the setup menus but there are currently no application notes yet on the release. I am sure the developers are working overtime to write out the details of what is new so let's give them some tim...

Re: ANAN-100 issues

I've been following the thread Eric and scratching my head because the behavior of the rig was so strange. Thanks for posting the explanation of what was going on. As you said, very strange that the conflict was not reported by the OS or one of the devices, but good for you for sorting it out! 73, R...

New ANAN-8000DLE skin available

For those lucky people who have a beautiful ANAN-8000DLE there is a new skin available to match the front panel of your top-end ANAN. The truth is that you can use the skin no matter what ANAN you have so if you like it grab it anyway! You can download it at: http://www.w1aex.com/hpsdr/hpsdr.html ht...

SDR Console 10-23-2017 64-bit Release with ANAN-200D

I'm not sure if what I am seeing is due to a firmware timing issue, or if I have possibly missed a setting somewhere that is causing my issue. With the ANAN-200D running protocol 2 firmware version 1.1 (the newest available) the SDR-Console definition search function correctly locates my rig. As can...

My first contact with an ANAN running SDR-Console V3

I chatted with Ed-NP2G for several minutes today on 40 meters. He was running his ANAN-8000DLE with Simon's SDR-Console V3. It sounds great and even without APD it looks very respectable in the panadapter. My 200D is not yet able to run V3 as it locks up within a few seconds of starting. My guess is...

Re: Should I or not

The ability to adjust every aspect of the transmitter and receiver is one of my favorite things about the ANAN rigs. Of course the performance is an even better feature! I think you will enjoy whatever model you decide to purchase.

Re: IQ File Playback: Panadapter Doesn't Move When Tuning

A quick follow-up after playing around with OpenHPSDR v3.2.10 this afternoon. The IQ tuning behavior with v3.2.10 is the same as v3.4.2 when CTUN is not enabled. The VFO frequency appears to be accurate but the displayed band of stations in the panadapter does not move at all. With CTUN enabled, whe...

Re: IQ File Playback: Panadapter Doesn't Move When Tuning

Hi Kevin, I have not played around with this feature at all so I am hesitant to say that it is working as it's intended to. I believe that I am seeing exactly the same behavior you are describing and it does seem to be broken: Tuning does not track in the panadapter with CTUN disabled. When CTUN is ...

Re: IQ File Playback: Panadapter Doesn't Move When Tuning

Hi Kevin, I have found that it does not work for me unless I enable the CTUN button (underneath the AVG and PEAK buttons in the GUI). When CTUN is enabled I can tune around in the panadapter normally while playing back an I/Q recording. I'm not sure if the way I do this is normal behavior for OpenHP...

Re: Should I or not

Hi Tommy, As a long time user of a Flex 5000 I have to say that I had tons of fun with mine. That being said, it would be unfair to compare the Flex 5000 with any of the ANAN rigs because they are in very different classes. The direct sampling ANAN rigs with the enhanced CFC Audio Tools and adaptive...

Re: PSDR mRX General use questions...

Gary, Another thing to consider is that PowerSDR.exe (OpenHPSDR mRX PS) should be run with administrative privileges as the database.xml file is stored in the "Users" hierarchy of folders and Windows is very fussy about non-admin level programs writing data to that area. Without an adminis...

Re: Apache Labs Announces the ANAN-7000DLE

Volker, My ANAN-200D, which is less than 6 months old, has far greater air flow through the case than my ANAN-100, which was purchased direct from India back in 2014. I think Apache Labs took to heart the concerns expressed by users regarding heat and opened up the bottom fan port (no more drilled o...

Resolving the missing CPU Utilization counter in the OpenHPSDR mRX PS GUI

In most cases, this problem is easily resolved by bringing up the Windows command prompt and typing in the following command: lodctr /R ...and then you press ENTER and Windows magically repairs itself. If all is well, Windows reconstructs a couple of data files in the Windows/System32 folder and you...

Your directions are spot on Scott and I always have that page in front of me whenever I flash to a new firmware or move from Protocol 1 to Protocol 2 (and then back to Protocol 1) when I am playing around with different software. The only item I can think of that you might want to add is how to deal...

Re: New Quick Setup Guide for the CFC Audio Tools - 8-18-2017

Great suggestions Scott! I absolutely agree that a Leveler setting higher than the default "5" will produce a more optimal result with the CFC. It adds some soft limiting at the front end and makes the CFC much more responsive. I'm glad you mentioned that as the video did not hit that poin...

These items were not present in the fi...

Re: ALS 600 AND ANAN 100D

Hi Mark, As Joe mentioned it is not uncommon to have the open frame relay hang up a bit and cause a long transition back to receive. My ALS-600 used to do it all too frequently. I found that the pivot arm of mine had "walked" to the edge of the pivot points which caused it to hang momentar...

Re: External Audio Rack or 10 Dollar Dynamic Microphone

Scott, Yes indeed, as far as the best bang for your buck the XM8500 is really hard to beat. I never measured it but I think the condenser mics have quite a bit more gain than the dynamics but it would be interesting to level the playing field a bit and run the MXL-770 right into the front panel of t...

Re: External Audio Rack or 10 Dollar Dynamic Microphone

I agree with much of what you have said Scott. I would add to the sensitivity aspect that the SPL spec on the microphone is also extremely important. After a lot of attempts to get that 10 dollar Pyle PDMIC78 Chinese clone to match the external audio rack it was the SPL that was the insurmountable p...
