Re: RCA PTT Out Reading

Actually appears borderline to me.
Periodically PTT will stop working and usually doing a tune on the tuner will correct it. Interestingly when I transmit about 6 watts the PTT reading shows 18 ohms.
I have an MFJ-998 doing the PTT control triggered by the ANAN 100.

Re: RCA PTT Out Reading

PTT Off -- infinite
PTT On (no power out) - 30 Ohms

Can't say I like the 30 Ohm measurement -- may explain why I sometimes my amp won't kick on.
I may have build my own take-it-to-ground circuit or figure out why it's not a dead short.

Re: RCA PTT Out Reading

You need to measure that diode. I suspect you may see a dead short across that too.

I didn't look at the schematic but it sounds like short somewhere...solder blob...or some such thing.

Is this new behavior? Or is this from day one? Sounds like it's time for some continuity checking....checking the diode in-circuit may work....especially if it shows a short. https://www.fluke.com/en-us/learn/best-practices/test-tools-basics/digital-multimeters/how-to-test-diodes-using-a-digital-mul...

Re: Digital audio interface connections

That makes sense....I'm 100% digital for several years now...but if I ever get into phone again sounds good...or CW....

I was trying to figure out how the thing would be for digital user...but I guess not better than ethernet for latency.

Re: Digital audio interface connections

Maybe where I'm getting confused is I thought we were talking about low latency. Why do you need low latency on Mic or Speakers plugged into an external audio device? What's the advantage vs just using the mic/spkr plug on the computer?

Re: Digital audio interface connections

The only question I really have is what do you hook up from the rig to the Behringer (or whatever device). The headphone jack level could/would be too high and would have to be careful not to overdrive the Behringer...or do you hook up the line level pins from the accessory jack? I would think the a...

Re: Presonus Studio 192 Mobile audio interface

Color me dense...Scott's article mentions the Behringer...not how to hook it up. These sound devices we're talking about have mic connectors that would have to have audio going in them to feed the USB bus coming from the device. That's where I'm a bit confused as to where the audio gets into these d...

So what is the connection from the rig then? Ethernet? If it's ethernet how does it get to the sound device? What's the digital path from rig to sound device?

I'm confused....I am, of course, familiar with the Ethernet via voice meter...

For starters change the display from GDI to DirectX
And change your sample rate to 48KHz
See if that makes it behave better.

Frequency accuracy

Trying to use my ANAN100 for the FMT test and I find that the Calibration Correction Factor doesn't allow getting the GPS reference signal closer than about .180Hz. Adjusting the correction factor doesn't always make any change at all and when it does the frequency will jump 0.5Hz or so. I would ima...

Re: Wifi to serial converter to link KAT500 & Acom 700S?

There will be two comm ports...one for each serial port on the wireless unit. They sit on two different network ports that you will pick through their setup. Then the VSPE software needs to know which ports to use. Hopefully the ports are labeled to make it a bit easier to figure out who's who. I ju...

Re: Wifi to serial converter to link KAT500 & Acom 700S?

The VSPE doesn't "share" a com port. It creates a virtual com port to talk to the wireless port.

So, to your computer, it appears to be a com port just like the hardware was sitting next to you with a USB/Serial adapter.

Why would you want to do this?

Could be done by taking line level audio from the rig and running it to the line level pin on the SignaLink...

But again...why? You can get the audio already....

What does your spectrum look like? Especially the FT8 transmit spectrum when this happens?
I find my ANAN 100 frequently starts generating noise similar to this and I have to toggle the power button in Thetis to reset.

Re: Guidelines For Best Transmitted Signal Quality With Digi Modes

Actually testing does also show the "wrong" bandwidth 2900 instead of the 100-3260 I have set in Var 1.
And the 2900 is the bandwidth that is being used.
I ran a tune signal and it started dropping around 2900.

Re: Guidelines For Best Transmitted Signal Quality With Digi Modes

I turned that on the VFO display on my system and VFOB is showing LSB but is actually transmitting USB.
So me thinkst it's just a display problem.
The TS2000 MD command sets the mode for both VFOs and apparently that's not being done and the mode on VFOB doesn't matter.

Re: Guidelines For Best Transmitted Signal Quality With Digi Modes

Split allows you to actually transmit outside your bandpass by shifting the carrier freq.

So if you have somebody at, say 2400 and that's at the edge of your bandpass you've set up, split will move that 2400 offset into the 1500-2000 region and bump up the carrier 1kHz to do it.

What option do you have checked for WSJT-X in the Settings/Radio/Mode?
I use USB and have Thetis CAT Control "DigL/U Returns LSB/USB" is checked.
That works here

I just loaded pre15 on my ANAN 100 and my audio to WSJT-X is completely hosed. I'm getting regular dropouts coming from Thetis 2.6.9 that I didn't get previously (I hadn't tried any of these pre-releases yet). Here's a snapshot of the audio recorded with Audacity. I'm going 48kHz everywhere and trie...
