Re: Step attenuator linearity

I can tackle this again in the next week or two and post the results here. It would be great to reach a conclusion that we can all agree on!

Re: Step attenuator linearity

Would it be difficult to measure the return loss of your coupler? Just curious to see if there is an impedance problem lurking. I can do it as time permits, but keep in mind I've made IMD measurements using three different RF samplers that yield the same result. The only RL measurement that I had c...

Re: Step attenuator linearity

You may have already done this, but if you have access to an Xtronic coupler I wonder if that would make any difference in the measurements? Yes, I have repeated the 160m results using three couplers: Coupler #1: Xtronic XDC-1 Coupler #2: 60dB coupling coefficient capacitive voltage divider (later ...

Re: Step attenuator linearity

Scott, My DUP display does track with the S/A until the non-linearity occurs and PureSignal can no longer linearize. You have not yet reached a point of non-linearity with the HP measurement. As such, I would expect your result. It would be helpful if you varied coupling to the point where IMD is re...

I have a 7000 with AC2IQ coupler and Pure Signal works fine except for 160 meters. I get major IMD, -20dB with the external coupler, although the feedback is green, and S-Att is good. Pure Signal works on 160 with the internal sampler. Any ideas? Power level doesn't make any difference. Greg N8MW G...

Scott, In the Skimmer setup menu, I only see sound card options for MME and WDM. Does this mean ASIO drivers won't work with Skimmer? I only see transmit profiles in Thetis so I'm assuming that a separate sound card profile for Skimmer isn't possible? Yikes, I would hate to go back to using VAC for ...

Re: 8000DLE internal noise - (switcher?)

There is a switching power supply in the 7000 MKII. It's built onto the Orion MKII card, same as it is in the 8000. That's how you get 5 and 3.3 from 12V on the card. But there is not the 12 to 50V DC to DC upconverter that the 8000 has. Well, yikes. Looks like I need to 'cruise for spikes' with th...

Latency from the Presonus output always remains constant (the lavender trace). But latency from the ANAN headphone jack (yellow trace) increases to the delay shown in the first set of screen captures.

Interesting. The timing disparity between audio at the Studio 192 headphone jack and the 7000DLE's headphone jack "creeps in" with time but corrects itself by disabling, then re-enabling VAC in Thetis. Sometimes it occurs within a few minutes, other times it happens hours later. It also cl...

That's fabulous, Paul! And it really demonstrates the big difference that ASIO drivers and hardware can make. Were you also using the low latency filter settings? Yes, QSK is engaged in Thetis and VAC is active. So, the CW side-tone comes from the receiver and not the side-tone generator.
