Re: ANAN-10 Receive Audio

Harry, The Setup > Audio > Primary page has, believe it or not, NOTHING to do with audio! This is a hopelessly misleading remnant of the past when the IQ data from the radio hardware was actually passed into the PC using a sound card line input instead of Ethernet. The only settings on that page tha...

Re: Is it possible to control the bandwidth requirement?

There is no way to do this. You will not be able to run PowerSDR over a WAN connection no matter how fast it is. There is too much latency and too many dropouts of UDP data. It's a thick client architecture that expects (requires) a low-latency, nearly lossless connection. You have to use some other...

Re: Using VAC button in Power SDR

You must assign a device for both the input and output or PowerSDR will be unhappy. This is an unfortunately limitation (I'd call it a bug, really) of the software. Re-reading your posts, I see that you have no input devices available. You must create one to assign, even if you are not going to use ...

Re: Using VAC button in Power SDR

I'm not reading any problems here. Did you select the speakers as the output device? If so, do you get audio on your PC speakers from the radio?

Leave the resampler option OFF for now. Use automatic Buffer Latency and large buffer sizes for now.

Hi Scott... So I read the tutorial, very good... What I don't understand is..... If I want to route Power SDR audio to the speakers in the pc , let's say... Q Is it still necessary to configure an input device such as a microphone in order to get vac to work...? Not at all. Just follow the example ...

Re: 8000DLE Overheating

It should not do this, not at 5W and under relatively benign, "room temperature" conditions. I had my 8000 overheat once. I had forgot to reattach the internal fan connector after upgrading the LCD Arduino firmware. Room temperature at your location doesn't exceed 25C, does it? Air is free...

Re: ANAN-10 TX spurs

The level of performance you measured well exceeds both 47CFR91.307 and ITU-R SM.329-7. Obtaining greater than -60dBc spurious performance in an HF amateur radio transceiver is quite difficult. Are there other amateur radio transceivers that can demonstrate this level of performance or better? If so...

Re: Orion Mk II 2.3 firmware released (current protocol/Protocol 1)

Thanks, Carl.

I wonder if loading 2.4 on your radio was a happy accident, since it is still the old board revision and will run on 2.3 and below.

I also wonder if they are sitting on releasing 2.4 publicly until hardware with the new board revisions starts shipping.

Re: Orion Mk II 2.3 firmware released (current protocol/Protocol 1)

Hi Carl, As far as I know, the latest firmware is what is in the TAPR Github repository, and for the Orion MKII based hardware that is 2.3. I was not aware there was a 2.4. Since you are currently in contact with Doug perhaps you could quiz him on that and report back what he says here. Thanks, Scott

Re: Foot Switch Install

It is also possible that your mating connector is not fully mated with the chassis connector. The chassis connector is a front mount connector that they improperly mounted on the rear of the panel. You may need to use an adapter, or modify (shorten) the connector locking nuts in order to ensure full...

Re: Cat control of Yaesu VL 1000 with 8000dle

Adam, That's a lot of words to say "I like ALC and think it's an important amplifier and radio function." I don't agree. ALC is completely unnecessary convenience feature as long as the amp has sufficiently effective overdrive and VSWR protection, to include prohibitions on hot switching. ...

Re: GPSDO With 7000 DLE

My guess is that the +5dBm output is marginal and will work for some radios but not others, depending on component tolerances. I know that Abhi has said that it should work at 0dBm, but that has not been my experience. I've never taken apart a 7000 as I don't have one to take apart. If it is anythin...

Re: Cat control of Yaesu VL 1000 with 8000dle

I have a Quadra in my station. Whilst testing various ANAN radios, I have avoided using them as exciters for the Quadra because they are not fitted with an ALC input and I do not feel comfortable operating the Quadra without a properly-connected and calibrated ALC loop. That seems a bit overly caut...

Re: GPSDO With 7000 DLE

It may be locking, or it may not be. In either case, it is definitely NOT correct. That is an 85Hz error, which is huge, and indicative of a free running Orion MKII board regardless of its stability. I'd suggest a few things: 1. Make sure it is still locking up your other radio correctly. 2. The out...

I just tried transmitting on ANT2 and receiving on ANT1 using WSJT-X instances. I still got decodes from ANT1 during the transmit so ANT1 did NOT disconnect. Mike, I am skeptical that ANT1 did not disconnect. If so, if both the ANT1 and ANT2 relays were connected during TX, surely you would have da...

Re: Antenna mute

Damn! Over +30dBm? :o That's a ton! You definitely don't want to let that impinge on anything on the Hermes board. However, assuming the switching on your PA/RF board doesn't fail in some horrible way, you would probably be OK to set it up for TX on ANT1 and RX on ANT2, and the Pixel is on ANT2. Dur...
