Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

That's what I thought, thanks, and why I used Virtualbox.

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

If you take a look at the schematics (links available in the schematics sub-forum) you could probe the boards to see if the relays are getting the right control signals at the right voltages.

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

If a large number of relays are "sticking" it sounds like it could be a problem with one or more relay control ICs. If that turns out to be the case then that would be a different problem than the occasional balky relay that some people have experienced and not a fundamental design flaw, b...

Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

Does local audio work under WSL? Or do I have to connect speakers and mic to the radio? Local audio does work under Virtualbox.

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

For external control I use both the open drain outputs on the accessory connector and also DDUtil with an Automation Direct "Click" series PLC . Both work fine. The DDUtil stuff is extremely powerful but not well documented but I can help with some of that. The open drain outputs will chan...

Re: sharing ETH

The one thing you can do is maintain multiple, separate configurations for PowerSDR, one for each type of radio or radio configuration you have. PowerSDR mRX PS allows a command line variable as follows: -datapath:[path] Add this to the command line (in a bat file, or as part of a shortcut) and have...

Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

It's definitely an option for the developers, Joe. However, web apps suffer from speed (think spectral display) and UI (knobs, sliders, buttons, etc.) design restrictions, and also are limited in how they can interact with the hardware platform, i.e. moving audio might be difficult. It seems very li...

Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

Yes, but will it be a Windows client or a Linux client? That makes a big difference to me. I only have Windows and Android when on the road. I dare say most others are in the same boat, perhaps with iOS instead. More importantly, when will it achieve parity with the PowerSDR feature set? I won't use...

Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

Bridge mode did the trick, Rick, brilliant! Thank you! Now the next problem is to get volume levels to be much, much louder. Windows mixer is max'd. Everything is max'd in linHPSDR, the Ubuntu desktop and alsamixer. Not sure how to get things louder. AGC gain doesn't seem to do anything, and AGC pum...

Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

Total failure so far. WDSP and linHPSDR both built with a few warnings, and it ran, did the FFT wisdom thing, and started. Then it found the radio, and connected to it, but it's not moving any data at all. I'm not saying I didn't complicate this a hair with Virtualbox, but, damn, the web browser wor...

Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

Hi Rick, I just finished installing VirtualBox and Ubuntu on my Win10 super-machine. it plays sounds OK. Not sure about recording sounds, yet. Maximized the Firefox window and now Firefox will crash the machine when started--typical Linux B.S. May have to uninstall/reinstall Firefox. Next ste...

Re: Beta release of linHPSDR

And I'll throw out the first question: I'm trying to figure out the best way for me to run Linux. Please, no hokey/jokey answers about "get rid of your Windows machine, etc." I require Windows, period, and it's not going away. The biggest issue is that I have a fabulously powerful and well...

Beta release of linHPSDR

I am shamelessly cross-posting the message below from the mailing lists here. Let the discussion begin! At HAM RADIO 2018 in Friedrichshafen I gave a presentation at the HPSDR Academy on some new Linux software for HPSDR compatible radios called linHPSDR. Please note that this is not PowerSDR runnin...

Re: New PC Build: now UPDATED with overclocking performance

Thanks, Tony! I rolled the dice on memory, too, obtaining some memory from a friend that he said did not work right in his PC. It happily runs at 3200MHz in my PC, though, so I dodged that bullet!

Re: Would it be possible...????

Hi Bill, If you've got that many analog devices to mix/switch into the line input, then you've almost certainly got a mixing/switching device as well. In which case, why not simply put the microphone on the mixer as well and route it there? That way you can leave the radio set to line in all of the ...

Nobody uses the software harder than you, Gary, and I mean that sincerely. BTW, the comment above was a joke, hence the "wink" emoticon. I'm sorry that you did not interpret that as humor. There are clearly a few people that I do not communicate with very well. I try my best. I agree with ...

Re: Memory function

If you have VFO lock on it won't do anything. Otherwise you are doing it right. Another method is to double click in any field in a memory "row". If neither method works for you and VFO lock is OFF, then I can only suggest your memory file and or database is corrupt and either or both need...

Re: New PC Build: now UPDATED with overclocking performance

Another update: Back in December I posted about how I was getting a lot of blue screens and that I had to back off my I7-7700K overclocking from 5GHz to 4.8GHz (both at 1.35V CPU voltage). Obviously my cooling had degraded a bit and CPU temp's were running in the 80's (centigrade) with all of my rad...

Re: Would it be possible...????

The UI change is possible, Bill. The trick is that you have to find a developer interested in taking on your idea and putting it into PowerSDR. Or become a developer yourself. Note that since everything is open source this can be anyone, it does not have to be one of the current developer cadre. The...

Re: Rob Sherwood, NCOB's presentation at Contest University 2018

My take-aways: 1. From a pure receiver performance perspective, there is very little difference between the top 15 or 20 radios out there. Obtaining Rob's "Holy Grail" performance levels no longer requires rocket science or a ton of money. 2. When arguing about (1) above, make certain that...

Re: Thetis ETA for release ?

No, Joe, neither Thetis, nor Protocol 2, has been "abandoned". Unfortunately a higher priority issue came up, which is that all of the firmware including the bootloaders had to be redone due to a parts obsolescence issue with the memory chip used on the boards. That has taken a goodly bit ...

Re: Computer Status

I run my entire station and PC 24/7/365, and reboot about once a week, or more often if things are getting "weird". But I use it every day, and the PC gets a ton of use, not just for radio.

Re: sharing ETH

I don't think that it is possible to do what you want to do given the limitations in the original communications protocol. Although you can successfully SEND data independently from the PC to each radio, both radio hardware units will try to send data back to the PC on the same UDP ports on the same...
