Re: DDUtil/Method to control Amplifier

Hi Scott/Gary, I thought it might be a good idea to buy a 2 port serial card so I got a startech PCIe and installed it in my win10 system so a direct rs line could be run to the 15pin on the amp. Install went fine drivers all okay and created the two com ports, but could not get it to connect in The...

Re: DDUtil/Method to control Amplifier

If you've got the parts, whipping up a quick, 3-wire test cable with a DE15 on one end and a PC-compatible DE9 on the other should take about 5 minutes with a soldering iron. The only question is the sense of the TXD and RXD pins--you may have to swap them in the cable. I thought I had the hardware...

Re: DDUtil/Method to control Amplifier

Thank you Gary for the very cool explanation and tips. I have asked the maker to clarify a few things Scott, his kind reply is below. The amplifier has no USB - it's just a socket like USB. There are TX and RX signals in it as for RS232. Through this port you can: - connect to SPertControl on the lo...

Re: DDUtil/Method to control Amplifier

Yes I meant TX>TX etc. OK will follow your lead. I will of course be using the Serial to USB cable as I have no other way.

Thank You.

Re: DDUtil/Method to control Amplifier

Thank You. I used Google for the translator so not the authors fault  I'm sure I have some spare 9&15pin plugs at work so tomorrow evening I will do as you say. BTW Is that a straight thru cable you refer too ? Of course I will need to use the serial to USB cable as I no longer have a PC wi...

Re: DDUtil/Method to control Amplifier

Thanks Scott. The feedback from the Author is " the serial port in the amplifier is only for communication with our software. Bands can be changed in BCD, ICOM (voltage) or Kenwood (after CAT). Depending on the selection in the INTERFACE tab in the amplifier menu" He is controlling his amp...

Re: DDUtil/Method to control Amplifier

Attached the manual (now in English). Photo of the rear of this one below IMG_9656.JPG The specification of the amp was to be able to use remotely. As such the USB plug is a serial connection and came with a cable USB>DB9M which can be plugged into an RS232 to ethernet. I have managed to get it conn...

DDUtil/Method to control Amplifier

Trying to find a way of connecting my Anan to a friends amplifier. If succesful, he will be upgrading to a 7000DLE MKII himself. Currently using Thetis 2.6.9 / Com0Com / DDutil 3.2.6.22 to get my logging software (log4om). The amplifier is from Poland SPert1200 and it seemingly has a DB15 on the rea...

Re: Seq Errors Explained

I am sure you are correct, Scott. Before I do....one thing bugging me is my Cat5e cable going downstairs to my router around 30ft. Ive been thinking about installing a seperate intel gigabit network card in my PC (configuring as per Rob w1aex) and then running a short cat6/7 cable to the 7000dle mki...

Re: Windows10 2004 Update busted my radio

Yes, Windows updates can sometimes play hell with sound drivers. I'm stuck at 1909. Every time I try the 2004 upgrade it fails at the second boot phase with no good error message and reverts back to 1909. Still haven't figured it out. Scott, I was stuck on 1803 and couldnt jump to 1903. I joined th...

Re: Seq Errors Explained

Scott, thank you for your reply. To be clear, it is not that the SEQ errors bother me, it is just that I want to make sure they are not indicating some problem that needs to be taken care of. That, I still don't know. 73 de Arnie W8DU Evening Arnie, I would be Interested to know if you changed the ...

Re: Which one? Anyone compare them?

It's really a very personal choice. The Hercules don't have multi-speed jog wheels AFAIK (neither of the ones I had/have do). What I did was sit down with a printed image of the controllers I was thinking about and penciled in the controls I wanted to support, playing with the layout until I though...

7000DLE MKII (Black Edition) Low Power

Whilst waiting for my hardware to build a mic cable to interface PR781 to the MIC input I am trying to do some basic observations. When the radio arrived 2days it had P1 installed which ran PSDR 3.4.9 no problem. I have had no time to do any tests in its current trim and today I decided to just upda...

Re: Warning for 7000DLE MKII owners

I have the black model too, it arrived in February. I just fired it up and "put the hammer down". Been running fine ever since so I assume the factory has the jumper issue sorted. Not exactly sure of your response. I presume it came with P1 and you just went ahead and installed P2 without...

Re: Warning for 7000DLE MKII owners

Wouldn't hurt. Cheap insurance and all that sort of thing. Thanks. So, the radio arrived with v2.7 loaded so PowerSDR mRX PS is working fine. On this black edition it has six CSK screws holding the brushed aluminium base cover in place, would it be best to remove the rear/front cover plate or both ...
