Re: Trouble with your microphone? Read this...

now that I know to ignore a slowly decaying bias on Mic Tip (with Bias off), i installed a dynamic Shure 55S and a D104 with a Primo dynamic element. Both seem to be working fine, except when monitoring (MON) with headphones i need to cut way back on the Mic Gain to prevent audio feedback. I am usin...

Re: Trouble with your microphone? Read this...

Never mind, I made a mistake sorry. I am reading the decaying 3.3V on TIP, not RING. I should have waited long enough to notice the decay. At first it appears there is bias present. I guess I can proceed with the dynamic mike installation and let the bias decay. sorry for the confusion. I will repor...

Re: Trouble with your microphone? Read this...

I forgot to mention I upgraded to v.2.811 when I noticed this in the previous versions. Same result.
Maybe I should learn how to set up VAC like you do.

Re: Trouble with your microphone? Read this...

OK Scott, thanks for getting back to me. I confirm that default mike is TIP. bias is OFF PTT is ON YET there is still 3.24V present on TIP. I am reading this with a Fluke 87 multimeter. On Ring, I see a decaying 3.24V reading that slowly over a minute or so goes to zero. what's next? Use a capacitor...

Re: Trouble with your microphone? Read this...

Question:

I noticed there is permanent 3.3V bias on the Mike tip (front) even though Mike is set to DEFAULT, Bias is OFF, and PTT OFF.
(Thetis 2.8.11, 7000DLE)

Do i need to put a series cap when installing a dynamic mike?
Why is there a Bias on the tip?

tnx.

Re: RX2 not same signal level as RX1

Thanks for your help Scott. This Forum is very helpful. I removed the burnout transient suppressor D20 which was shorted, and all is well now, waiting for replacements. Apache did a good job installing two transient suppressors (that i have noticed) and at the right places. I am now installing a ded...

Re: RX2 not same signal level as RX1

Scott, I have the schematics and I am looking at the three pages of the Filter-Pa board. What I am not seeing is continuity from center pin Ant1, to pin 3 RL22 but that's probably OK since K8 and K5 need to be energized, since the relay coil symbols are on top of the relay contacts (while some other...

Re: RX2 not same signal level as RX1

Hi Scott, thanks for the fast reply. Further visual inspection of the Filter Pa board shows D20 blown and shorted to gnd. Found replacements with Arrow. Not sure if there is more damage; but we'll do more signal tracing. FL7 next to D20 shows IN-OUT continuity. The black AXICOM relays are not surfac...

RX1 has permanently dropped some 20dB

Hello, I believe my ANAN 7000 DLE has suffered permanent front-end damage. Very weak reception on RX1 about 20dB. Only the strongest signals can be barely heard in noise. I received the schematics and will try to trace the path, wondering if a relay of FET got damaged. thanks for any advice/suggesti...
