Re: G2 Software and Firmware Updates
I downloaded the saturnprimary2023V12.bin again from github and reinstalled it. Then I checked the P2app and piHPSDR for newer files. They are both up to date. My G2 with display and piHPSDR still does not transmit with V12. So I went back to V11. Now it transmits again. It is still noticeable that...

Re: G2 Software and Firmware Updates
Laurence, that is a last solution. Is it worth to download the image file and rebuild it from scratch? I know it would not solve the actual FPGA reprogramming problem, but it may solve any other issues which may blocking the actual FW writing? The message I receives after each flesh writer operatio...

you will need updated piHPSDR too, or updated p2app as noted by ke3vg.

Then I'm sorry but I don't know what to suggest.
The only way to reprogram more thoroughly than that is to use a xilinx programming cable an start from scratch

Re: G2 Software and Firmware Updates
p2app isn't the issue; that's just displaying the value it read from the FPGA. If the flashwriter succeeds it has overwritten the FPGA image (which was at the correct address) and read it back successfully. If the FPGA didn't load it, it would have loaded the fallback image instead and it would have...

and you fully powered off the hardware then back on?
I've just programmed mine from the file in github and it reports version = 12, as expected

Re: G2 Software and Firmware Updates
Sorry but I can't explain that.
Two suggestions:
1. can you capture the text from the status window on the flashwriter app?
2. make sure that the V10 image hasn't accidentally been renamed V12

Re: G2 Software and Firmware Updates
Yes it is the same firmware for both.
Can you post the full text that p2app starts up with please - I'm looking to see if it loaded a fallback image rather than the primary one.

Re: G2 Software and Firmware Updates
It should be possible with git to "go backwards" but I don't know how to do that. I've not included the executable in the git files because I generally test with 64 bit operating system, and the factory image is 32 bit. One day I'll need to find a way around that. I spotted one thing that ...

Re: No TX output power
There will be another Thetis release that's associated with the code change to prevent CW TX on an antenna selected for RX. Rick and I worked out what needed to happen and Rick has committed an update but a new release hasn't yet been generated. The solution to that has been a long journey with prot...

Re: G2 Software and Firmware Updates 27 Aug 2023
We are in the process of changing the firmware, p2app and piHPSDR to work with enlarged FIFO buffers in the FPGA. Debug code has identified that we were stalling the software waiting for a speaker FIFO to empty. Hopefully a combination of enlarged buffers and a different way for the software to tra...

Re: G2 distorted audio using TRS and standard mic input
I had R8=10K. We don't know whether this is a quality problem, or a deliberate decision to change the resistance to 10K not reflected back onto the schematics. Similarly with the other component: there may well have been some experimentation in getting that power switch right (which I wasn't involve...

Re: G2 distorted audio using TRS and standard mic input
I got permission from Abhi to publish the schematic of the Mic preamp board for the G2. I've also marked up the modification I made: this biases the op amp to +5v using a linear regulator. I'm speculating that the cause of "pickup" observed by some users was the effect of 13.8V power suppl...

Re: Thetis and display truncation
The minimum allowable size of a Thetis window is 1018 x 609 pixels. If your display cannot provide that much screen real estate then you are out of luck. James' idea is a good one to obtain more space but it appears that the 7" display you chose will still not meet the requirements since it is...

Re: G2 distorted audio using TRS and standard mic input
My understanding is that new G2s will get the ferrite clamp. I've done some experiments today to look at the noise level as reported by Audiotest. Firstly with no mic inputs connected: with a 3.5mm mic input, Boost not selected: Audiotest noise level is <-60dB with a 3.5mm mic input, Boost selected:...

Re: G2 distorted audio using TRS and standard mic input
It doesn't have a transformer input: it has an NE5534 configured as a differential amplifier. My understanding is that on new radios there is a common mode ferrite clamp. That transformer is physically large for the space available on the PCB. It would be eminently possible to make an "aftermar...

Re: G2 distorted audio using TRS and standard mic input
It's not the case that no-one is listening. It may be the case that no-one can post the answer you are looking for. And yes I think it should have the ferrite clamp: it is the most sensitive audio input on the unit. I don't know what the issue is that Rich is describing. I have a balanced microphone...

Re: G2: Pure Signal Fails to Alter Output Despite Thetis Indicators Saying Its Working
what I've found is: the value now seems to be set by a button on the puresignal (linearity) form rather than being set in response to the hardware type. Open the linearity form; underneath where it says "setpk" is a "default" button. That should set a value of 0.6121, and that se...

Re: G2: Pure Signal Fails to Alter Output Despite Thetis Indicators Saying Its Working
Thetis has a parameter SetPk which is important. It is on the linearity form. For a G2 it should be set to 0.6121 and for an Anan7000 it should be set to 0.2899. We had modified Thetis to set this for G2 radios; but Warren advised me on Saturday that was no longer being set. It looks like the Thetis...

Re: G2 distorted audio using TRS and standard mic input
Yes I'm aware that Audiotest can hang sometimes. That won't affect what it tells you until it hangs; and as an engineering rather than operational app, I haven't yet prioritised it. From the symptoms I would suspect a wiring issue. I would suggest making a suitable lead to connect your microphone to...
