If there is no actual NIC in the laptop a USB3.0 GigE NIC will work fine. Instead use a 2nd NIC for direct connention to radio.

I agree with Walter. However, if you have your heart set on a switch, it will need to be an unmanaged switch in order to use Bootloader to load firmware. And even then, not all unmanaged switches will work properly. If you do move forward with a switch, look for an unmanaged switch, in a metal case...
