Re: Memory function

Thanks Rob, When I first brought it up it was on one of the three FT8 bands on 6 meters ... and I was monitoring so I intentionally did not use the VFO but instead typed it in. An easy enough exercise to do changing 1 digit in each. It didn't dawn on me until I went back and tried it again, this tim...

Re: Memory function

and as usual I found the answer myself - its called A BUG! I was entering the values in the chart... so I "added" a new entry and changed the frequency there - that does nothing - it stays where it is! if I instead tune to a different frequency and add new ones - THAT WORKS. Of course if o...

Re: Memory function

there's that smart#@! remark once again ... and here I thought we were beyond that. I've been running beautifully for many months - all ALL of the problems I have had were GENUINE. ... I've only ONCE had a corrupted database and that was something obvious that I did. I knew it immediately. something...

Memory function

ok... so I've searched here and on the Yahoo group ... how do I use the Memory function? I've entered values for 3 memories (there are now 3 FT8 "bands" on 6 meters) ... but nothing I do changes the frequency I'm on. I hit the arrow or the "group" or the frequency - and after eac...

Re: Computer Status

That is a FAST boot time! I run my system/Anan 8000 nearly 24 hours a day - actually I do run it 24 hours a day for typically 2 to 3 days ... then shut everything down (systematically) and bring it all back up again (again systematically)... that seems to keep quirks from showing up.

Re: 7000DLE perfect QSK?

I've purchased 2 SPDT vacuum relays with the plan to replace the antenna relays on ANT1 and 3 ... I'm going to also modify ANT3 so that the armature is reversed and the RX antenna coming in (which is what i'm going to dedicate it to) isn't going to go to ground (and blow the RX preamp transistor) .....

Out of band reception

Here is a not so fun one... I'm tuning around 6 and I see a bunch of CW stations at the bottom of the band. Long story short they're actually operating in the contest on 20 meters and they're still good signals on 6. I don't believe I've ever had that before in any other radio. K1LZ 14019.0 S9+20 > ...

Ah - that's right! I remember that (now). So how does that impact split operation though, if at all ... ? I'll see what I can discover. THANKS again.

Re: How do I configure CW Skimmer?

Thanks Scott.... that's about what I had figured. Unfortunately. I think Skimmer is basically useless if set up for 3Khz (using audio) ... so it would need to be I/Q. And VAC2 is dedicated to RX2/ADC2 if I understood that correctly ... so I will need to explore what that means (in addition to the fa...

How do I configure CW Skimmer?

Anan 8000DLE Current: M-VAC supporting WSJT-X - selectable VAC1 (RX1/ADC1) or VAC2 (RX2/ADC2 when using RX array) So if I wanted to add CW Skimmer ... I believe it uses IQ ... I of course don't want to mess with my current set up using both of these as noted above. And of course since Skimmer uses I...

Re: 8000DLE and vers 2.3/2.3(N1GP) CW issue.

a follow up since I started this thread and don't want to leave it hanging. So as noted the issue with CW TX not working "right" (whatever that is) was real. Literally I called CQ using 1500W and 12 elements (6/6) on 15 meters and got zero RBN spots using 2.3 ... then downgraded to 1.7 and...

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

Conrad and Scott.... I've been on the side holding back, as Scott well knows that is not my normal tack. I'm quite vocal with "opinions" (generally those are based on present perceived facts)... but the one thing that set this situation aside is is this a fault in a particular unit or is t...

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

Hi Conrad.... I feel for you. Indeed although it gets pooh-poohed by those that aren't using the same feature/functionality it IS important - and it simply should work. That stated - I believe it is not PowerSDR ... rather it might well be the radio firmware. Perhaps the same hardware and methods ar...

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

I'm now back on version 2.3 again ... and will soon reload 2.3(N1GP) to again test for the issue with ADC2 relay sticking. When I did that the last time and did limited testing it seemed to fix the sticking relay - however I found that CW TX wasn't working very well - I was unable to bring up RBN sp...

Re: Filter WIdth

You can see if you bring up the SPECTRUM display, at least on CW, that 50Hz is where you lose the peak at roughly 0 db when using BH4 and at least 8192 (which is what I use). You can see this if you go more narrow from there. I have CW filters of, at the narrowest, 60, 50, 40, 34, 26 and have used t...

Re: PureSignal performance on 6M

ok.... just to be sure I don't think Doug was saying that the filter was bypassed - I think he was saying nothing was done - i.e. there was a "disconnection" from input to output in the RX chain while transmitting. That is the only way I could see, the radio could exhibit 30 - 40db reducti...

Re: PureSignal performance on 6M

Scott, Ok .... so first the responses/answers to your post are: yes I had the Bypass TX checked as I had indicated and the only thing that changed on that BPF1/LPF page was the selection of Firmware when ALEX ON was selected and Manual when ALEX OFF was selected - as you had detailed and expected. Scott.... I'll get back to you tomorrow. I had composed a response but was waiting for more info (talk to Doug today) ... and while waiting apparently the forum timed out my login and didn't warn me of that before I hit "SUBMIT" ... then prompting me to log in (again) so I lost it all.

Re: Preselectors, the ALEX button, and RX2

Scott, Warren & Doug, Ok .... so I upgraded, again, to version 2.3. If you recall I went back to 1.7 because i had an issue with CW where the TX wasn't well defined (see other forum post). So again this relates to Alex and it being on or off. I've not had anyone state why turning it off, setting...

PureSignal performance on 6M

Scott, Thanks for redirecting me ... I remember reading this some time ago but at that time didn't have anything other than a casual interest. So - looking at the schematic. Alex isn't used for TX! THAT was my confusion and why I kept saying "if OFF FCC certs would not be met". It is only ...

Re: 8000DLE and vers 2.3/2.3(N1GP) CW issue.

The one thing I find frustrating is that some bugs are difficult to repeat. I KNOW they're there ... but getting acknowledgement of them let alone fixing them is difficult at best. For example: PSA turns itself off. The right green "Correcting" box is there ... but the one to its left, Fee...

8000DLE and vers 2.3/2.3(N1GP) CW issue.

I have been using version 1.7 firmware in my 8000 since September of last year. But I had an issue with a sticking ADC2 relay. N1GP said he believed he fixed it so I upgraded to version 2.3(N1GP, shows as 2.4). I run stacked monobanders on 15 and 20 ... and legal power when DXing. When on CW I routi...

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

Just a note since this thread is where i decided to upgrade the radios firmware. I had been using 1.7 given to me by Doug way back in September of 2017. The relay sticking problem might be fixed - I haven't revisited it since my post earlier in this thread. However I note one serious issue that has ...

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

I'm also using Rick's beta (which does show as 2.4 even though the embedded version in the file name says 2.3) ... I've not had a chance to go back and test for the sticking relay issue. I will say I've been running it since Saturday - 3+ days albeit with conditions not a great deal but i've made pr...

Re: "Sticking" Relay on ADC 1 and 2 Receive

I tried it for about 5 minutes (0 power) on 160 where I use the RX array .... it did not hang up.... I don't think that is necessarily a complete test as sometimes it would take a while (pretty random). I'll try again as time permits. Fingers crossed... I'll report back with more results. Of course ...
